I'd take Ste. Chapelle over Sacre Coeur.

And I agree; if you've been to Notre Dame, the odds are you've been to the Louvre.

Re: Wednesday, March 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

We've already seen two perfectly acceptable hosts who could carry on respectably in Alex Trebek's footsteps. But if the clues don't improve, no host will be able to keep the show at its former level of excellence. Once the powers-that-be settle on a new host, I hope they turn their attention to wha...

Re: Wednesday, March 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was rooting for a scoreless tie after Mt. Rainier was a TS. I had no idea my wish would be so close to coming true! Rainier is the highest U.S. peak outside of AK, CA, and CO, and given its proximity to the dense population around Seattle and Tacoma, when (not if) it erupts, it has the potential ...

FJ needed 'until' the 1980s to make sense. Terrible wording. Add another Notre Dame.

Congrats to Melis. I always am impressed by a non-native American winning. Plus a smart wager, not falling for the all-in.

Re: Tuesday, March 2, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was sure it was Shinzo Abe, and then switched to Netanyahu after he occurred to me at the last second. Interesting fact: Netanyahu's older brother, Yonatan, led the Israeli raid at Entebbe, and was the only Israeli military fatality in the raid. (And if you're unaware of the Entebbe raid, you owe ...

We are definitely spoiled here in West Michigan. My alcohol closet is stocked with various Founders/New Holland/Bells offerings like Dragon's Milk special editions, Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Canadian Breakfast Stout, and Mas Agave. That one is a lime gose that is aged in tequila barrels. It's a bee...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

You know what, let's just lock this thread. If I'm not keeping my own score anymore, then there's less for me to get frustrated about, and less to ask "but how did you even know this about", and less for LITERALLY EVERYONE ON THIS FORUM -- including the person whose name is in the thread -- to get ...

I guessed chalk for the art question. I had no idea, but thought that might fit the "Street Story ___" part. What art medium might you use to create a street story? Same reasoning here. Pretty lost on devanagari. System, eh? How about "card counting"!?!? At first I thought it was a form of yoga. Th...

Re: Learned League 88 - Feb/Mar '21

How many got the quilt question here? I was nervous assigning defense. I knew it because I live in Alabama and have heard about the quilting ladies. I just didn’t know if it was widely known or if it could be puzzled out. It seemed to play hard, though not as hard as Joker’s Wild. NHOI. I missed ve...

Mr. October? Mr. November?

Harrumph.

As a fan of the Cleveland Indians, I know our best players are usually known as "Mr. February."

Re: FJs for the 2/22/21 week

Even on my 5/5 weeks, Mark usually trips me up on one of the extras. Not this week, though. Nice try, Mark!

And there should have been a box, "I'm pretty sure I've never seen any of Michael Colton's shows". Would have made me 9/9.

Four countries in Africa have populations greater than 100 million. And Ethiopia is nowhere close to Nigeria in population. (Lagos is a port, people. It ain't landlocked.)

Nigeria 206,139,589
Ethiopia 109,224,414
Democratic Republic of the Congo 102,561,403
Egypt 101,334,404

But I think Avon is iconic for their multi-level-marketing scheme/scam as well as their doorbell meme (Avon calling) and once popular collectible containers.
Is Avon MLM? I thought they were simply door-to-door, and that isn't necessarily an MLM like Amway.

Has anyone else noticed that Mike does the interviews without holding the cards? I am impressed by that ... he has to remember last names, home towns, and what the story is.

Not an instaget, but it fell into place pretty quickly.

I thought the league-wide get rates were a spreadsheet error or something. In my rundle, they looked a lot more realistic. Does anybody else think the wording of the Muslim holiday question made it more difficult. If it had said 'As it relates to its central figure,' instead of the plural, I would'...
