Re: Thursday, April 2, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Kids books for $1,000 was a bad misfire on the writers' part. I also said "snow day" because "nieve" is snow, and was dumbstruck when it was ruled wrong. "Snowy day" would be Día nevado in Spanish. Should this be tagged as erratum? https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41Bj%2BcbeioL._BO1...

Re: 2020 Current Events Study Guide

The Tokyo Summer Olympics have been postponed until 2021. Note that this is just a statement from a single IOC member (and Dick Pound seems to always make his opinion known on contentious issues like these). Although the most recent official statements from the IOC and TOCOG (the Tokyo 2020 organiz...

Presidential briefings weren't content to pre-empt The Price is Right, now they've started preempting Jeopardy, too. Ugh.

Re: Thursday, March 19, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

My local listings still had the show shunted over to the digital subchannel due to March Madness, so for the second straight day I've 'enjoyed' a MASH rerun instead of Jeopardy.

Kinda shocked that Bose/boson played as the hardest clue on the MDC.
I always forget that the boson is named for a person.

Re: Learned League 84

38% knew how to convert decimal to hexadecimal? Really ? That might've been the longest I've ever spent on a question. I got it right (and guessed the right answer first) but yikes. Some might actually know the discography...but I had to do the math In fact, the first mIRC script I wrote converted ...

Re: Thursday, February 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm surprised that a clue that had "-she- is the only -woman-" had an implied BMS for "Curie". It would be like having a clue that said "He wrote a book with James Patterson", and waiting for "Bill" in addition to "Clinton" to differentiate him from Hillary. Marie's daughter Irene also won a Nobel ...

I'm sure Allison just whiffed on the significance of the year.
She told me she bolted upright in bed that night realizing that the Louisiana Purchase wasn't until 1803.

Re: Learned League 84

I missed the TV question yesterday (I was never much of an Adult Swim fan, and the other two clues were whiffs, so I thought the cartoon might have been Space Ghost Coast to Coast and some sort of Aussie show referencing the Gold Coast sounded logical). Considering television is my best category, I ...

Re: Thursday, February 20, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I see what you did there, but it’s Amahl for Menotti No shit. But considering Jeopardy doesn’t penalize for spelling so long as it’s phonetically correct...... ;) You might have missed some wordplay there. Oh. Crap. It took me many looks to get it. Ha! That is a good one. Thanks for pointing it out...

Re: RIP HQ Trivia

Originally they had a lot of advertising and sponsored games. I think they were hoping that people paying for lives and coins would pay for the jackpots, but that proved to not be the case.

Re: Monday, February 17, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The original film Waitress (which was not a musical) was written by, directed by, and co-starred an amazing woman named Adrienne Shelly. I think she would have had an amazing career and be much more well known, but she was tragically murdered before Waitress came out.

Did they have any really big wins the last few days? I hope nobody got screwed out of a lot of money.
I think they had 8 people split $1K on their last regular game.
