I have that episode two weeks ago to thank for the "taxi squad" get. That was the first time I'd come across that phrase. Irrawaddy was a clue in one of my UToC games (probably my favorite game I actually won). Just glad to get a win yesterday, There have been a couple of times in the past week or s...

Closest IKEA is over 100 miles away + didn't know the company was that old + never heard of that effect = no chance on FJ

(I did do that crossword, but don't recall that clue in it. It's possible I didn't see it because of using across clues only in that section.)

I got two points for the Hot Brown question. I fully expected to get a 0 for that. (I prefer it without tomatoes, though.)

Today I learned about "Bread and butter" when watching a Popeye cartoon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bread_and_butter_(superstition)#:~:text=%22Bread%20and%20butter%22%20is%20a,is%20thought%20to%20be%20averted. The only time I ever hear this expression is in cartoons! https://youtu.be/EM_n9croRyg...

Yeah, just a standard set of polyhedral dice for role playing games. https://www.kroger.com/product/images/large/front/0079652036413 A d4 (tetrahedron), d6 (cube), d8 (octahedron), d12 (dodecahedron), d20 (icosahedron), and two d10s (the ones at the top, with "kites" for faces). d10s are generally l...

Township was just one of those things I've picked up about South Africa over the years. Soweto is an abbreviation for "South West Township".

My Scrabble dictionary has DIXIT but not DIX. Dictionary.com and Oxford's Lexico only show it as a last name (generally referencing Dorothea).

Quilting was a guess that seemed reasonable.

I figured devangari was about the Hindi alphabet, but my guess of Cyrillic was too far down the list. Couldn't remember what exactly you would call the "English alphabet", and I incorrectly put Cyrillic ahead of Arabic in my mind.

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

The steps of the casting process the first time around were: a) 10-minute, 50-question Zoom-proctored quiz b) if you do well enough on the Zoom quiz, you will shortly after get an invitation to a group Zoom session. There you and a small cohort will answer a bunch of multiple choice "at the table" q...

The British version is also, critically, a daily show, so, combined with the lower prize pots, it's much more acceptable that the contestants only win once every five episodes or so. If the chasers win 80% of the time on a weekly show, you could go a couple of months without ever seeing any money gi...

My best guess is "I hope you're getting a lot of benefit about that; I know it made you feel good." although I'm not sure if that's 'you're getting' or 'we're getting'.
