Re: Friday, April 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

When James is on the show, he is the highest-earning individual on that stage, outpacing Trebek. Very likely, but not definitely. Trebek could make $20 million a year for all we know. https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/life/entertainment/a22593703/alex-trebek-net-worth-wife/ Not sure what you're tryi...

Maybe it'll be such a letdown when winning totals revert to the mean that they'll double clue values again.

Re: Friday, April 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

So according to the Internet, Alex Trebek earns around $42,500 per episode of Jeopardy. ($10 million per year. 235 episodes per year). James is averaging more than $70,000 per episode. The "Internet" (which apparently didn't consult the Archive) is definitely wrong about the number of games per sea...

I kinda like that idea, but let's have five lecterns just to outdo Super Jeopardy! and add more work for me recoding the Archive again.

Re: So...what have we learned so far from James Holzhauer?

In the summer of 2004 were there reruns of Ken Jennings games? 2004, no. 2005, yes (one week, including his first and last shows as well as when he set the then-record of $75,000). All IIRC. I don't have a record of exactly what the reruns were but I do know that there were 7 weeks of reruns and th...

Re: So...what have we learned so far from James Holzhauer?

In practice I'm not sure it's even 250 milliseconds. That may be a case of rounding up. I recall John Lauderdale telling me it was some much lower number, like single-digit or double-digit milliseconds, and therefore, each contestant should pulse the button as rapidly as possible (just as Watson did...

Worth noting in the Archive.

It would be funnier if they had a clue about the MGM lot from before they moved the show there.

It was pointed out to me that if you look at the banners in the category introduction you will note that the Clue Crew clues at the Franklin Institute were recorded a year ago or more.

What do you consider the "air time"?
The earliest time on here: https://mattcarberry.com/Jeopardy/j-airing.html
In other words, 11:00 AM Eastern show completion?

April 15, 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris is ablaze and it doesn't look good. If it's not going to be a total loss of the cathedral, it's going to be very close to it. Looks like 2/3rds of the roof and the spire (which was itself a restoration put in place back in the 1800s) are gone, but most of t...

Given that the inspiration was the "let's give 'em the answers" reverse-format conceit and that in turn was inspired by the scandal, the answer is quite plainly no.

I'd argue that the late Joe Osborn was a greater figure
Somehow I didn't know his name but looks like he played on some great songs with some memorable basslines.
