Ummmmmmmm, what?
You must have missed that show-stopping track on the Lin-Manuel Miranda cast recording, "President A Billion Years Prior".

That's one more thing to worry about.

Eh, I was only offering my feedback on your clue, which, the feedback aside, I thought was a good one.

Re: Final Jeopardy! Clues

The most recent time two teams from the same state faced each other in the Super Bowl was when these two teams met; the losing team making their only appearance, and the winning team making their fifth appearance, and first with a different quarterback. In a real game the clue would be 1/3 this len...

Re: Thursday, September 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I too went with Tinker Toys even though I was 99% certain they were around in the '50s (didn't Watson and Crick use them to discover the structure of DNA)? You could've spotted me the fact that the cube was invented in '74 and I still would've discounted that since I would have been too drawn to con...

FWIW John Huston's screenplay refers to "the fat man" 27 times. The original novel, 80 times.

Re: What’s up with j-archive?

I think the first post is a joke ("Season 37 or 38") but I get it. The truth is I am too busy doing a major rewrite of the back-end (and family + job) to put in those games. Also, my recording methodology completely fell apart and I have no way to record the games (although I am working on getting t...

I had no idea the bomb was named for the character. Nor did I, and I think I've read just about every book there is about the Manhattan Project (I have a shelf of them). Great question, tough but gettable. I think it's interesting that the contestant who got the wrong response was so very close but...

I guessed Hugo, which I don't think was an outlandish proposition, but he died 16 years too early to have been a 1901 Nobel candidate. As long as we're in Russia, Dostoevsky died even earlier, in 1881.

He buzzed in about 25% of the times he didn't have the right answer Can you tell us how this number was computed? How do we know how many times he didn't have the correct response and didn't buzz in? As opposed to had the correct response and didn't buzz in? How do you factor in when he was beaten ...

Re: Thursday, September 12, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was sure Air & Space was the most popular museum in D.C. but could not for the life of me think of which two words could be eliminated to give it its former name. ("If you take out 'air' and 'space', you're just left with "National Museum", which can't be right!") Tricky clue, I think.

1964-02-09 should be an unforgettable date for a Beatles fan, whether or not they were old enough to have watched it live.

Now the page is gone entirely and redirects to "List of Jeopardy! tournaments and events." Fortunately all the content is, for the moment, still on Wikipedia if you look for it . For the record : AldezD nominated the article for deletion 2019-07-20 (after a 2010 AfD resulted in "Keep"). Two other u...

Re: Final Jeopardy! Clues

I spent more than half the night dreaming about the different possibilities after the Final category came up, DIRTY PLACES TO SPEND YOUR BIRTHDAY. I guess I was hoping there was some really good trivia about a celebrity getting stuck in a sewer on his/her birthday, sitcom-style?

Re: Administrative Note

I have the wide posts problem, but it appears not to be as simple a dividing line as first/subsequent. Some threads have no wide posts. Other threads have several wide posts at the top. (I thought it might be a matter of the first post to quote, but no, it's not. It's not a before/after upgrade date...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

In this game I think the $2000 "NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBES" clue in supposed to be in the "GRAINS" category. I couldn't find a way to use the suggest-a-correction tool on the website to say that the category was mixed up. http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=4905 Yes, you are right. Do a clue ...
