I enjoyed reading Shawn's recent writeup for Ricochet, but I confess I don't understand the Porsche joke at the end.

Are there any wagering scenarios in particular for which the generated suggestions that strike you as wrong after the rule change? My understanding is that it is not strategically wrong to play for the tie where you are forced to do so even after the rule change. It is more a matter of preference: d...

Jeopardy! at the 2020 Daytime Emmys

At the 47th Daytime Emmy Awards, Jeopardy! won Outstanding Game Show (its 17th win in this category), and Alex won Outstanding Game Show Host (his 7th win and second win in a row, the first time he managed that feat since '89-'90). The show holds the number-of-wins record for the Outstanding Game Sh...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Even if all the non-J! IP could be licensed for free, the cost of the legal work that would be needed to re-clear all the audio and video Daily Doubles (etc.) for streaming makes it unlikely that we'll ever see old Jeopardy! again in this fashion. It's a real shame.

In the interview segment, did Justin mispronounce "heroine" (a la someone who's only ever read the word, not heard it spoken) or is there a play that features a "hero-iney"?

Re: Friday, June 12, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned the extreme negbait response in fantasy author Ursula K. Le Guin, who should at least be near the top of the list for any combination of clue keywords magician + Oprah. (She died in 2018, not 2019.) What's the connection between Le Guin and Oprah? Are you mayb...

I don't know how I would have gotten Final right if I hadn't read this fact previously. (Although I didn't know it was a "bestseller," so to speak. Seems weird for a book that would be relatively dry and uncontroversial, as opposed to his typical agnostic offerings.)

Re: FJs for the 6/1/20 week

I would have been very embarrassed had I been on stage on Thursday. "Oh, that's easy," I thought, "I've seen the opening of Lawrence of Arabia . It's T.S. Eliot."
