Re: Tuesday, January 18, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

This game featured Amy's longest longest streak, of 14 clues. (The number in this case is the same whether you define "streak" as keeping control of the board, or number of correct responses in a row.)

I'm 99% certain Ken briefly dwelled on the FJ! fact in a recent episode of Omnibus, but I can't pinpoint it.

Only if you also use the "Paree" pronunciation in the middle of an otherwise-English sentence.

Re: Can contestants see the text of video clues?

IIRC, they put the text in the square on the board as normal, while the actual picture or video is displayed on a separate monitor to the left of the gameboard. The clue text on the game board is a gibberish of ellipses, or at least it was when I played. It's more distracting to try to mentally fil...

Drop Dublin and I'm 60%-70% sure the response is L'Enfant. I would have need to have been spotted an occupation, but at that point, it's kind of a giveaway.

"Dublin" was no help to me and I think your knowledge of the correct-response guy would have to be pretty deep for it to have been a help to you, considering that he was born in Rhode Island, trained in Scotland, and was only in Dublin to flee creditors. Also wouldn't have expected a paint...

Re: Reretaken Down

In sub-test one, is half the word list missing? I only see A-H. The answer to (1) appears to be in the missing I section.

The algebra was easy. Some of the proper-noun list association I did not have sufficient knowledge to reckon with, but would make interesting spare-time research.

Re: Wednesday, January 26, 2022 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

How did Rhone win? By playing a decent game; hitting a late-DJ! DD, making it true, and getting it right to avoid being locked out by the champ; then wagering to win in Final and getting Final right when the champ didn't. That's all it takes.

Seeing as I can't see any reason for such secrecy, it's probably more just that they haven't gotten their PR machine in gear yet. The media blitz will probably launch this week.

The 4 semifinal winners would then advance to the finals which would either be a two-game 4-podium event, or a two-part final where the semifinal winner with the highest score gets a bye while the other 3 play a single with the top two players form that game playing a single game against the bye wi...
