Re: Monday, January 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Lisa posted elsewhere that she was thrown halfway through responding because of the unconventional overlap, paused, and started again at the beginning of the overlap to make sure she got it out right. I'm sure this is true, but there is even more to it. After watching and listening a million times ...

2) A "Before & After" requires some "after," a unique suffix after the linking middle.
Wouldn't that be "-ostrophe"?

I can understand lumping mispronunciations in with repetitions and stutters, but to me they're different.

Re: Monday, January 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

once her response was accepted, I didn't expect a reversal. I don't think a reversal would have been fair since Lisa wasn't offered the opportunity to say her response again. Tell that to Allen Goodman... or the many other players who see a slight mispronunciation result in a reversal with no oppor...

Re: Monday, January 1, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Like a stutter and a reiteration of what came immediately before the stutter. It's the only explanation that makes sense, but if you're allowed to start over in the middle of a BEFORE & AFTER response to repeat the linking part, it kind of ruins the point of the category. (Would "undefeated boxer.....

Was no one else surprised that Alex didn't recall money for Lisa's response of "What is will.i.am... biambic pentameter?"

Re: Maintaining Confidentiality of Who Has Won on Jeopardy!

I think any contractual power the producers have is far outweighed by the general apathy studio audiences have when it comes to game outcomes. The studio audience is usually asked not to reveal game outcomes but it's not like they're under some kind of enforceable NDA. If there was anything to be ga...

Re: Thursday, October 12, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

The story behind this Final is even weirder than the clue lets on.

Pretty ironic if the Feds thought Capra was making Communist propaganda, given that Capra was staunch anti-Communist...

Re: Question on "be more specific"

Instant neg if you give wrong information. But sometimes there are inappropriate BMSs. Example, there was that one time where Alex gave a BMS on "Kennedy" for a clue in a name-the-president category...
"Who is Kennedy?"
"Which one?"
"Uh, the one who was President, Alex?"

Re: How are ties resolved for 2nd vs. 3rd?

Rokshana just responded to the Facebook message I sent three years ago: "I got the Mexico vacation...I think we both did." ARGH--because at present the Archive logic assigns her the CDs, and losing champ Michael the vacation. She was in the extremely rare situation where nonwinning players were tie...

Re: smallest hometown of a contestant

I don't know if you ever got my e-mail from last February, but I wanted to say I think you have one of the sweetest Jeopardy! web sites. I particularly love the calendar visualization . It's quite useful for examining what the show considers to be their sweeps periods and for predicting dates for up...

Season 1:
I think the season ended early then, so were there games in July?

Season 2:
July 1985 (if there were games)
No July games in '85 or '86. (I know you meant '86 for Season 2.) Seasons 1 and 2 ended 6/7 and 6/6, respectively.

Re: Thursday, July 6, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

What is the lowest total DD bets for someone who played all three in one game? I don't know but here's a game where Madden went 3/3 and netted only $2,400. I can't recall anybody ever going $5/$5/$5. You're kind of crazy not to bet the most you can in the Jeopardy! Round but Madden broke that rule ...

Brandon! Congrats, champ!

I will admit to not realizing that you weren't actually on the show before. When you first were introduced on the show, played back from my DVR, I cursed the confounded contraption for playing back a rerun. Well, major congrats!
