Re: Thursday, December 8, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I was certain the lady Ibsen/Gibson clue was going to be about someone terrific, radiant, and humble. I am very frustrated that I will never know.

Re: "500 questions" is casting for season 2

I saw a promo spot on ABC last night and spotted a couple of players (real quick, but sure looked like them) from the TOC class of 2010 and someone from MSQ (not to mention J! and others), but my favorite was the audience shot from last season used again. Or they didn't let last year's audience lea...

Unless they have made significant rule changes, having Ken go first gives him a significant advantage. He's flabby and out of practice. Happens when you don't have to compete to get onto these affairs. To be fair, it also happens when you do have to compete to not get onto these affairs. Rex

Re: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Just have to mention re the "of the" movie category, I figured Daniel Day Lewis= possibly Last of the Mohicans but AT's lame unnecessary imitation threw me way off base. Yeah I can just see Buzzy hanging from a clock. Unnecessary because it was so bad. Day Lewis's emphasis on the word "will" in "I ...

Re: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Instead of viewing this as a fiasco, we should put a more positive spin on it. Anyone who has been on Jeopardy! and lost can cite this as evidence that you can be very knowledgeable and still lose. Many things (including sheer good or bad luck) play a role. Everyone who has been on Jeopardy! is ver...

This doesn't regard gameplay, but something very rare happened during Game 1 of the Teacher's Tournament Semis. I don't know when the last time something like it happened.

Re: Reretaken Down

I noticed just now when catching up on my Sploofus TQOTD that the TQOTD leaderboard currently shows 6 boardies in the top 10. WTG, jboard! Congrats boardies! I had an amazing March on sploofus - I had a chance to win the month missing only one question. Then I missed March 31st. Argh. 6th place. Th...

By the way, last time they did this, Sarah and Kelly were greeting folks at the door. That was a treat.

Hey, I'll be in London that day. Wouldn't that be a kick to play from there? That is, if my vacationing family doesn't mind me abandoning them.

Re: Wednesday, March 9, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Now, the question of FJ: The clue asked to name this geographic "feature." Knowing that Chamonix is in the French Alps, I answered "The Alps." I'm guessing that if this were any other clue besides FJ, it would have generated a BMS. Since no BMS is possible in FJ, I call BS on this clue. How is one ...

Re: Wednesday, March 9, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I was rooting for Bill, whom I have the good fortune to know personally, and I was disappointed to see the result. He played well -- he played the game it was meant to be played -- and it was a tribute to his resilience that he was still in the mix going into FJ even after missing both TDD's. I als...

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

For yesterday's set there were *17* 9(6)s in my 30-person rundle (and that was with two forfeits!). All told, the 28 people who did play missed only 15 answers. Did this set of questions have the highest total get rate ever?

Re: LL68: For the LLamas

A helpful hint for rookies: if you come up with an answer, even if it's a wild guess, go ahead and submit if you can't think of anything better. I thought of vitamin for question 6, but didn't think it was right, so I left the space blank. I don't think I've ever left a question blank. If I have no...
