Re: Are you more likely to watch tonight's episode?

I would've been the last option, but before tonight I'd only seen Wednesday's episode due to life getting in the way. Had I been keeping up I'd definitely have made sure to record tonight in case something got in the way of watching. But I like all tournaments just as much as regular play.

Re: Thursday, October 8, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

The ship is spelled Niña, which is pronounced neen-ya. English speakers (well Americans at least) tend to drop all diacritical marks used in other languages so it's often printed as just Nina, but that's not accurate. It sounded to me like Matt pronounced it just fine, and I was surprised when Alex ...

Re: Tuesday, July 21, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Do you think they'd have taken just "Lawrence of Arabia"? Somehow I never can remember his initials - I just know they're not DH. Lawrence was his last name so they should. It is what I wrote down. Oh I guess that makes sense. I just always get anxious because they're inconsistent about when to dem...

The bit about the trial specifying she was female made me doubt Borden, but I decided that was just something they did back then, especially if it was a violent murder charge. I also said Borden, thinking that specifying she was a woman meant she wasn't a girl, ie she was an adult. The date didn't ...

Hoover Dam for me. Was so sure I didn't try to think of alternatives.
Hi Alyson! I was sitting behind you at the audition in 2011 in KC. Good effort. I could see Ben was just outbuzzing you a lot of the time. It sucks, doesn't it?

Re: "Fifty Right, Every Night"

So I went back and scanned through my pile of papers from when I used to do Coryats (I quit as soon as my game aired.) I couldn't find any, even in Kids Week. (I take poor notes as to date, theme week etc, so I just found one with a lot of corrects and looked it up and it was Kids Week - 42 right. O...

Re: Question for LA-area contestants (former and pending)

I often see players from the LA area mention that they were a standby alternate before becoming an actual contestant. I'm wondering if that's the "norm" for locals. If so, when did they tell you that you were an alternate? Did they spring it on you after you arrived, nervous and ready to play? Or d...

FINAL STANDINGS Our last place finisher was all kinds of unlucky. She didn't answer incorrectly and she didn't use the SHEEP option, but yet she still managed to rack up the most points. In last place, the winner of this 1986 Yugo GL45 is... http://dev.hatchheaven.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/yug...

Still unanswered: [WLT sidewalks on Obesity for $200? There are lots of things that a town could be built without that might factor into obesity. I almost WAGged "parks". Key word was 'suburb.' Cities get sidewalks. Suburbs you drive in and out of; nothing tends to be within walking distance anyway...

Re: 2015 Online Test

Upset the closest audition city is all the way in Boston. I always entered Philadelphia (or I think NYC the one year) as the audition city. I just can't afford the travel expenses. (Don't want to even think how I would afford the travel if I even get on the show, but I have never let that stop me f...

Re: 2015 Online Test

As someone who has never taken the test before, I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what happens if I happened to receive an invitation to an in-person audition but was not able to go (which, given the list of cities, would have a good chance of being the case). Would that affect my eligibility f...

Anybody else surprised they accepted "hen" for the animal that laid golden eggs? Yeah, I expected at least a BMS, and wouldn't have found an outright neg unfair. Technically many female birds could be called a hen - for example when discussing breeding ducks you often refer to drakes vs hens, becau...

Re: POLL: Dress colors

I see pale lavender with shiny copper lace. But given the choice between white/gold and blue/black it's definitely white/gold. To me the shot looks like it's indoors with very bright sunshine backlighting it through the window so the front of the dress is basically in shade, so a white item would l...

Bradbury =Fahrenheit 451 is something I know in my sleep. But I forgot all about Fahrenheit 9/11, and I'm not sure I ever heard of any actual problems between Bradbury and Moore. I couldn't think of the names of any of Moore's films. Oh well.

Knew Poison, just couldn't drag it out of my brain in time. I always forget that Oasis did Champagne Supernova.
And I saw UB40 in 1983 when they were part of an all-day outdoor concert, which I actually went to to see the Police, on their final tour (Synchronicity).

Re: New trivia game show is looking for contestants

To my knowledge, there has never been paperwork saying players will be eligible again. Official rules of eligibility have stated that you cannot play if you have previously been a contestant on an Alex-hosted J!. Contestant coordinators seem to have guessed (speciously) that a change of host will l...
