Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

I've noticed that the art ML started off rather easy and has gotten much harder, while the crime ML has done the opposite. I've gotten several 6-packs in there the past few days.

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

Chicago, 45. I'm wondering if I should have picked Milwaukee for a potentially smaller pool. Hopefully enough Chicago natives did that exact thing.

Re: Confetti Discussion

It's getting more and more emotionally draining to continue losing this game. The fact that I can't monetize my only major skill during a lengthy unemployment is taking a major toll. I’ve never won but I’ve only played a handful of times. Do you have friends on FB who play? I have 2 that I joined f...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Pacific), April 11, 2019

My misses were Franzen, Audi, Cordelia (I know all 3 names and can never keep their roles straight. Cordelia is the only one I DIDN'T start typing), Bryant (who?) and kiwi. The sad part there is that I started with penguin, realized North Island was referring to New Zealand, and changed to... emu.

Based on the spoilered correct responses, I'm sitting pretty at 45/50, and 2 of those misses I wouldn't have pulled out in my wildest dreams.

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

Well, yesterday's visual art hammered me. I had two Russian painters spring to mind, and I of course picked the wrong one. As for the Botticelli, two things led me astray. One, that it specifically asked for the English title made me think it may have been better known as something else. Second, tha...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

The True Crime ML is significantly more difficult already. My first opponent and I tied with 3(1). I still don't know who that picture is of even after seeing the answer. Its the woman from Theranos, although I could not pull her name. I won 3(2) - 0(1) getting Pappy Van Winkle and Lufthansa. I did...

Re: LL80: LearnedLeague

One of the VBWA nominees is tantalizingly close to one I submitted. Either somebody had the same idea with better wordplay to the tune of a single letter or Thorsten misread my answer in the same manner.

Plain Dealer was the only one I was sure of, and was also sure it was going to sheep. If I'd known it was going to sheep that heavily, I'd have switched my drop and sheep and saved myself 2 points.

I am staying far, far away from this one. If there's anything I know less about than sports, it's college sports.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (West Palm Beach), March 27, 2019

45/50. Missed... the seemingly common misses of Viola Davis, Atlanta, and Chrissy Teigen... then embarrassingly protons (with an answer of electrons, and I still say that, since the clue did not specify the nucleus and ions weren't mentioned one way or the other, my answer would be correct. Depends ...

I know my Food & Drink score is horrible...but Vienna sausages aren't exactly 3 points obscure... I'll take the tie though. Point differential pretty much guarantees I won't get into A tho. While Vienna sausages are what I thought of that got me the answer, in hindsight I believe he was simply maki...

I pulled out a lucky 9(6) - 6(5) win with a WAG on The Byrds and credit for 'pinch run'
Those two I knew. My WAG was on the reality shows, though I reasoned they had to be related in some way.

I have little faith, but I always have a lot of hope. Nothing is certain, and if anybody can beat the odds it's someone who helped resurrect and reinvigorate a dead quiz show at a time when being a nerd still got you beaten up.

Both my opponent and I gave each other the 3-pointer in the wrong place, leading to an 8(5)-8(5) tie. That's two days straight I've tied at 5 correct answers. Still in promotion territory, though.

I misread the math question, and said range which I knew was the Y part of the formula (RTFQ).
Oh dang, range IS specifically for the dependent variable, isn't it? I still may not have come up with domain, though. It's been years since I've done much mathematical graphing.
