Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

When I saw "Going Home" and a year in the 80s, my first thought was Bon Jovi. You know, completely ignoring the fact that the song I was thinking of was actually performed by Daughtry, and MUCH later. Wouldn't have mattered anyway, as I couldn't have pulled the final two questions for anythin...

Jane Jacobs was no chance at all.
Ah, yes. That reminds me. I need to also start paying attention to my opponents' locations for questions like that. I'd never heard of her, but it was apparently a slam dunk for the gentleman from New York state who attended SUNY Albany.

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

But frankly the tie is about as much as one can ask for when one only answers two questions correctly in an A rundle. For an idea of how hard yesterday was compared the first 8 days, a 1(1)-1(1) tie was good enough to move me into first place in A Juniper. Lucky. I had my first loss of the season w...

Re: James wouldn't have lost pre-James

It's my fault, really. I should have fully expected untagged spoilers from a completely unrelated topic that only happened a few weeks ago. Silly me, thinking trolling is limited to Facebook and Twitter.

Dipped back toward the median with a 3(3). Somehow still tied.

Re: Monday, June 3, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

James must be relieved in one sense: Losing means that he will get paid now instead of having to wait longer until a longer run ends. Do we know that this is true -- that if his run had been longer, his winnings would have been withheld until he lost? I thought that when Ken's run spanned seasons, ...

I have to assume that, like me, the others were thinking the "not to be confused" was compost/compote.

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Still mercifully unbeaten after answering compost. I didn't have a prayer on the NBA question (I have never heard either of those names before), but my opponent scored my two misses at 1 and 2 points resulting in yet another tie. I guess I'm fortunate that the games side of the games/sports category...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

Despite missing two of yesterday's questions (I don't do well with more common sports and don't watch The Office and figured they'd saved Jim and Pam for the finale rather than stunt writing), I still managed to stay undefeated (2-0-2) in A rundle. Lucky for me, as I was shooting way above my averag...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

After lucking into a forfeit win on day 1 with only 3 right, of course I drop the 0 on their only wrong answer on day 2 for a 9(6)-9(5) tie. My DE goes from --- to 0.000 as the clock strikes midnight. Also, at some point between LL73 and last night, I forgot how to spell "Roth(s)child". Makes me wo...

Was pleasantly surprised (shocked, actually) to win my first match (5(3) 4(4))as an A rundler. Hey, I'm undefeated!
My first A rundle opponent actually forfeited.

My current one has a 0.900+ get rate. That winning streak was nice while it lasted.

Re: So...what have we learned so far from James Holzhauer?

After some introspection, I have realized that I might not dislike James so much if his run wasn't coinciding with the absolute worst of times for me. I'd still find his mannerisms irksome, but I'd like to think I could at least be congratulatory. The other strong runs and top money earners all came...

Re: Confetti Discussion

I have managed four wins (2 regular games, then the game show and video game theme nights) with two LLamas and my wife on board. There's a guy who recently posted 100 wins and I don't know how he's gaming the system exactly, but there has to be some explanation. No one is that good on their own.

I'm either in a very difficult bracket for the LGBT ML or have just had terrible luck. Haven't won a single match, 2 ties, really haven't done TOO poorly on the questions themselves.

is weird...jennings is the only person that the holzhauer dude follows on twitter
Last week James followed three: David Madden, Julia Collins and Ken Jennings. As he passed 19 & 20 he unfollowed the corresponding champ, leaving just the one.
Oh, boy.

The worst thing about the article is the insinuation that assholes can't love their families so James might not be an asshole. Trump loves his family too. Most exploitative, bullying sociopaths do.
So much this.
