Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), January 29, 2020

WHAT? I actually passed this one? I'm in shock! I had my kid stay up past bedtime to keep my score for me (writing checkmarks / question marks / X's depending on my confidence in each answer). I felt like I was doing pretty good but I normally get around 30-32 so I was surprised when we counted up t...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), April 9, 2019

If you listen to Ken Jennings' Omnibus podcast, he mentioned the Museo del Prado (#29 - Spain's national museum) in the episode on The Garden of Earthly Delights from ONE WEEK AGO, which I just listened to TODAY and still missed the question on tonight's test.

Huh... I thought the test seemed really hard but when I counted up my answers I ended up around 30 which is about how I usually do.

Agreed. He's still got it. His new book sounds like it could be interesting. Planet Funny is an interesting book! Comedy/humor is such a huge topic I wasn't sure what he would cover in a <300 page book. But he does a great job hitting the highlights of humor throughout history and focusing on the e...

Has anyone gotten an email for Tampa? I haven't (this is the first year I am reasonably sure I "passed" the test)... I have been stalking this thread so I know when to give up hope for this year, haha!

Another one for the "read the question" files: I thought Q4 was asking for two of the three major consumer credit reporting agencies (Experian, Equifax, Transunion), not one of the three major credit agencies that assign credit ratings. I got the wrong question right. I also had Dazed and...

I don't recognize anybody in my Rundle. I'm sure we'll be swapping casserole recipes in no time. Not even Michael Dupee? And Josh Frumkin's ... brother? Are you in Rookie Rundle 1 in Horizon? I am! I'm taking it tonight! I'm in Eastern time zone but I was going to wait until tomorrow night (since my kids are more likely to be asleep by 9pm than 8pm!) But I can't wait! Logged in and watching the countdown now... Fingers crossed my kids stay occupied :)

Re: Thursday, May 15, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

On the FAFSA clue, I don't remember the exact wording (of the clue OR the response) but I felt like "applying for college" was ok. My thinking was along the lines of "You fill out the FAFSA when you are applying for college". The FAFSA itself is for financial aid, but it's part o...

Re: Thursday, May 8, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Ken was superb, as usual. He was super-fast in converting those Roman-numeral initials to numbers.. His weekly Tuesday Trivia quizzes use Roman Numerals in the subject line to denote the week (we are up to CDVIII after 7 or 8 years of quizzes) - I wonder if that helped him at all. I thought it was ...

Re: Tuesday, April 1, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

This was the game I was looking forward to the most once I saw the lineups. I was all ready to root for Dr. J and her amazing glasses, but by the end of the first round I was cheering for Roger (literally cheering, like some kind of rabid sports fan!) I had forgotten how soft-spoken Roger is! Knowin...

Personally, I thought she looked more like Mayim Bialik than Amy Farrah Fowler. I thought of Mayim Bialik immediately, as I'm a big fan of hers. If you're going to make the distinction though, Mayim doesn't always wear the "Amy" glasses in real life, so Diane probably would most accuratel...

Well played! When I was a kid, at the beginning of the school year the first thing I read was the 'misplaced and misleading modifiers' section of our English textbook, just for the laughs. Perhaps you did, too! hahaha... I had forgotten that - I used to do that too! I remember being disappointed wh...

Is it bad that I'm kind of swooning over that spreadsheet description? (I rarely even participate in the TDs, I'm just a big fan of spreadsheets.)
