Re: Friday, November 17, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Full disclosure: I’d never heard of Consumer Celullar before this TOC! I always thought it was a “ball-in-socket” joint. I’m having heart palpitations imagining myself going TDD in game 2 of a TOC final and losing on that slip up Alan’s DD also took me to Freudian slip first, but it made no sense so...

Re: Learned League 75 - Official Thread

MD4: Got 5 right, but so did my opponent! The perfect 9(6) still eludes me... Moll Flanders is a really good read! I put CAC40 for the stock market question and sorta expected it to be right :/ NHO Fisher so let me guess- cooking? nah, art history sounds better. Didn’t matter b/c I was assigned zero...

LGBTQ: I wonder if responding just "trans" would have prompted a BMS or an outright neg. We'll never know!

Re: Thursday, November 16, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Instaget FJ, but I was an early adopter ;) Cringeworthy intro for me, especially after seeing a master class in physical comedy last night at TFANA in Brooklyn: Marcel & The Art of Laughter (a double bill) Fun game. Surprised by Austin's Kalamata olive miss, but those clues are tricky when the lette...

Re: Tuesday, November 14, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I can't begin to imagine Lisa's feelings during that game. Perhaps frustration with the buzzer, knowing the right responses to many questions but not being able to answer because her timing was off. Missing the buzzer once is part of the game. Miss 3 or 4 in a row and you start questioning the timi...

Re: Tuesday, November 14, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Near-instaget FJ for me. I misread the clue as saying the original 1952 play was French (although maybe the writers were trying to subtly imply that), which led me very quickly to Beckett's classic. Beckett was an Irish playwright who wrote in French. I believe the play was first published in Frenc...

Re: Monday, November 13, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I don't think anyone in this thread has reported a get on Andrew's DD, so I will report that my dad got Kampala. I got it and didn't think it was that tough, but ok, the difficulty of any clue is gonna be subjective and maybe I'm a bit of an Afrophile. In any case, that animal name is pretty common...

Re: Thursday, November 9, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Great game! Tough Final! Happy to see Lisa advance! I’m also surprised by the missed clues. A Place in the Sun is a great film, adapted from Dreiser’s “An American Tragedy.” I remember Seth being strong in movies from his run, so I expected him to get this one. The Blondie clue, otoh, went right ove...

Re: Wednesday, November 8, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

3/3 on FJ this week, which is just weird FJ - flirted with Wilde but the year was way too early so flitted over to George Gordon, Lord Byron Lots of trash: speaking (ill of the dead), landing (on my feet), Hammerstein, MDD Saskwatch, alibi, Brahe (really?) I had "from nothing" for "ex nihilo", and I...

Got to Lesotho in no time, but might have been assisted subliminally by Alex Jacob's tweet

Surprised by the Egypt TS.

NHO maul as a noun

I really liked the bounce tonight - really forces you to focus 100% on the game. Maybe I'll try that strategy when I get on the show :)

Re: Monday, November 6, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

"Celestine Prophecy" also seemed insanely obscure for the top box. Never read it but remember this being a best seller for awhile and had no trouble recalling the title Mostly kept up with the bounce but was completely thrown on the first “fusion” clue, so i see how this can be an effective strateg...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

4 months in the pool now. I keep checking jeopardy.com to see when audience tickets become available for future tape dates. I've been distracted by Halloween and the NYC Marathon the past few weeks, but post Sunday, I'll be back to obsessing about why I'm not getting The Call. Perhaps Dec 5 or 6??? :?

Re: Thursday, October 26, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

morbeedo must have liked the mention of Clowns Without Borders with Erica’s chat. Loved it! Thanks for the shout out. Erica's story was great PR for the clown community at large - nothing horrifying, nightmarish or creepy about Clowns Without Borders I've fallen a bit behind on my Jeopardy! viewing...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

FWIW, this is the most depressing thread ever Even more depressing: when I hear that many players auditioned 2, 3, 4 or more times before getting on the show, my soul is crushed I've had one audition - that's right - one - after 'passing' the online test consistently for many years. 7 or 8 years fo...

Your time will come. I've taken the test every year for the last six years (10 if you count Teen Tournament as well) and this is the first time anything's come of it. Good luck in the pool!
Thanks! Have fun at the audition! Sit up front and look like you're having the best time ever!

Re: Wednesday, October 18, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

It's at an entrance to the park that few NYC residents would use. I also am not clear on why Venzuela would gift to the park a statue of its own liberator. The clue about that statue completely stymied me. Yes, the clue was less than helpful, though I was steered in the right direction as South Ame...

Re: Wednesday, October 18, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

No clue on FJ No words for Manny or Joann's poor wagers! But I do appreciate the "Bad Wager Alert!" posts Trivia: I got Auggie March without ever having read the book or knowing anything about the plot Alex to Chelsea on DD1: "You don't want to take a guess?" srsly? from what part of her body might ...
