Why did so many go to Ecclesiastes? What am I missing there?
For me it was simply "let's pick a book whose name I have no clue about the origin".
Solid!

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

Millionaire will be in reruns 12/17 - 12/21 & 12/24 - 12/28 for sure and I would expect 12/30 - 1/4/19 as well. These three weeks (The B games) were shown in double run markets to open the season. For those areas that only get one game a day these shows will be new and first run. About time! My epi...

Hmm. If I had seen Tuesday's episode of Jeopardy before Thursday's match, I should have been able to come up with 'published posthumously'

Re: Tuesday, December 11, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Ugh. That no one got the Hadji Murad clue was disappointing--my Ph.D. dissertation focuses on popular religiosity and religious dissent in late imperial Russia, and Tolstoy is a significant part of that. I don't know enough about his bio - I mean, anything - to have gone for that one. I blurted out...

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

For the paisley question, Argyle and Tartan were two possible wrong answers. The “bush” hint steered me away from the geometric designs. Same here, but I put TARTAN anyway I came up with AURICLE for ear, which is a synonym for PINNA only in the ear sense. I'll file that one away for, er, scratch th...

Well, I erred with ACT instead of Tasmania. Turns out ACT is *not* a state, but rather part of New South Wales.
It's not a state because the 'T' stands for territory. I'm pretty sure it's not considered part of NSW.
Right. It's enclaved within NSW, but a distinct territory

Re: LL79: For the LLamas

Well, I erred with ACT instead of Tasmania. Turns out ACT is *not* a state, but rather part of New South Wales. Made no difference, however, as my opponent assigned 0 points and I missed 2 points on Lion Air, losing (again) 7(4)-8(5) I'm resigned to the inevitable fall back to B Taiga for LL80, barr...

Re: TD 405 - HARRISON FORD (REVEALED)

Thanks for the game and sorry to see the player count was low. Wow, there really is a crisis in TDs! I enjoyed this one, even when I ran out of assists and had to take a WAG on the last sports question. I did think the first question was exceptionally tough, but hey, it's just a game I like these t...

Re: Monday, December 10, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I struggled with these boards today but picked up some nice trash The FJ category reveal had me in a panic, as I could only precall a handful of 2-word capitals, but then I heaved a sigh of instaget relief when the clue was read Whenever synagogue is called for, I respond with temple. Would that be ...

 :( :( :( Argh! I had Becky Thatcher instead of Becky Sharp. Would just plain ol' Becky be accepted? NHO Zapruder. Total blindspot for me  For the parrot, I missed the pirate connection but got to Florida via the tropics. Ended up with Miami Dolphins just to put something do...

No way I was missing Cosmo, but I don't see how you get it without having seen the show
Disagree. It was very much part of the pop culture lexicon in the show's heyday.
Yeah, I guess you're right. But I could still see this being off the radar for a lot of people

Re: Friday, December 7, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Nick did 8200+6000 on DD3 leaving 2200 on the table with 9 clues left. Nick trailed by 1400 going into the FJ! round. The other place where he could have had the lead for the FJ! round was clue 30. Nick negged $1600 taking himself out of the lead. That's okay he got $2000 to cover his trip and Stac...

Why?

If they wanted to play, they already would have.
Fair point

Nice theme! Thanks for hosting

The bonus was a nightmare but somehow I avoided last place.

Mata Hari was an epic bad guess. But at least the letters of her name are contained within Amelia Earhart

Current events are my worst category, but I knew Sentinelese (and actually put "North Sentinelese") and was rewarded with a 3. It was such a big story, though I have been fascinated by North Sentinel island for awhile and might not have remembered the name of the tribe if not for the geography conn...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

Had no clue that there are only 12 letters in the Hawaiian alphabet That fact was in the question. Lol yes. I meant before seeing this question, I didn’t know that factoid. I’m many things but I’m not dense. And I’ve never been to Hawaii but, as a kid, I was forced to endure that Bing Crosby tune, ...

Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

Today's $250,000 question asked for the number of states that can be made by only using letters in the Hawaiian alphabet excluding Hawaii. Hawaiian Alphabet: A, E, I, O, U, H, K, L, M, N, P, W Worked through the states perfectly. Maine, Ohio, Iowa, Oklahoma. $250,000 question streak lives on. 8-) I...
