Re: Reretaken Down

boson got it! The exact wording of the question was "1978 marked the first year since 1605 in which there were three popes. Who was NOT one of them?" with JP1, JP2, P6 and J23 as the choices.

On the trivia app FleetWit they have a live race at 11:30 am Pacific each weekday (the "premium" race is two credits, i.e. 50 cents, to play, but a free version with the same questions runs simultaneously). Each day is a different theme: Mondays are Last Week in the News Tuesdays are hangman-style (...

Re: Final day FJ wagering suggestions

I feel this thread can be bumped after almost four years, and I just don't feel like putting the GOAT games in the catch-all post. Greatest of All Time, 2020: Day 1: James: 33200 15000 48200 63200 Ken: 45000 12200 57200 69400 Brad: 10400 10000 20400 30400 Ken: Bet 6,001 to cover James. James: You ha...

Re: Friday, January 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

John: $10,600 Heather: $9,200 Ashwin: $6,000 The pre-FJ scores were in the weird "first equals third plus half of second" scenario, so John was exactly halfway between Heather's score and double Ashwin's score, and Ashwin was exactly halfway between Heather's score and double John's lead over Heathe...

Re: Friday, January 24, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I got spoiled on FJ, but it's easy for me to assume I wouldn't have gotten it. I suppose I'll have to accidentally stumble on the clue 7+ years down the line to be sure, like my experience described in this post.

Terry Jones has died (see 2020 current events thread). He's the second member of Monty Python to die, after Graham Chapman in 1989. Can anyone think of a group whose first two deaths occurred further apart? I have one in mind, but I'm curious what boardies come up with before I post it. A few that ...

The group I was thinking of was the Dave Brubeck Quartet: Paul Desmond died in 1977, and Joe Morello died in 2011.

Re: Reretaken Down

If you expand the definition of a group to include TV show casts, Ted Knight died 30.5 years prior to Mary Tyler Moore, the next cast member of that show to die. I don't mind it; I went straight from Monty Python to bands without batting an eye. And it was only my misgivings about including pairs t...

Re: Libraries for $400 (1/20/20 spoilers)

With "Motion Picture" in the clue "films" was clearly not going to be the correct response. Calling it negbait is blaming it on the writers, when it was just a collective brain fart (that affected less than half of the voters).

Sidebar to Floridagator just above. Massive boo on your entry, which made this one necessary. Lol! A quick Google of “Ken Jennings Trump” would tell him his prediction is unlikely. Lol, it was a joke. All three of my predictions were. Could you really not tell? With your jokes it's pretty hard!

I explained how (actually) literally one word could be helpful but you don't want it to be.
Because it wasn't at the time, and still isn't.
I don't understand how you can keep asking for explanations when you never accept them.
