Re: Millionaire 2018-19 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

When I saw someone walk without using all her lifelines, I posted about it.

Re: Tuesday, April 9, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I suspect you would also have had the highest Jeopardy! score after three games, but I did not check every three-game champion in the Archive manually so I can't be sure. Larissa Kelly had $108,600 to your potential $121,333, and I would imagine hers is the highest (real) score. Anyway, Roger Craig...

Re: Thursday, June 6, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I've heard "Alix" as the French form of "Alice," and I understand it to be pronounced like "Elise." I believe Alix is pronounced in French with a concluding "ks" sound, as in these videos: youtube.com/watch?v=athqxgaC9Pw youtube.com/watch?v=2VDvK0Bgzqk&t=75 (at timecode 1:20) youtube.com/watch?v=ut...

Re: Thursday, June 6, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

If she mistook Asterix for an asterisk she didn't hit the k very hard. It sounds more like Asteriss to me - not much of a French accent, but an acceptable response... The (lack of) accent is partly why it's hard to be certain what she said, since she uses a short, American i and not a French i, mak...

DESCRIPTIVE NAMES

This 9-letter word from Greek, normally a verb, is a fitting first name of the man who fathered Dennis Rodman and at least 25 other children.

Re: FJs for the 6/3/19 week

edit: ^^^ Hey, twins. :(  :( :( :( My first thought was Spain on Tuesday, but I thought they had been too caught up in their own drama to take sides in WWII. So then I decided that I was jumping to conclusions to assume from the clue that the country was former...

Geez, people. Everybody get down off your hind legs. Nobody needs to do lecturing on either side here. The winner is the first person to back off and speak respectfully without waiting for the other side to do it. Do they also get to go first in DJ!? I don't know. I forgot to write the rules ...

Re: Messages will return to Final

My FJ response and wager as revealed in my sixth game were written by someone else. I might never have noticed it, except whoever did it respelled "eye" as "aye." I emailed Maggie asking about it, and she called me with an explanation, but she had laryngitis (or something else temporarily screwing u...

Re: Quick Rules Q

There are no rules that anyone could read. Jesus Christ Wayne are you just willfully ignorant and trying to annoy everyone? Are you really ignorant of the paperwork everyone who goes on the show receives, or just being a moron? Sounds like you are (the former, I mean). The paperwork has nothing of ...

Re: Quick Rules Q

Another game in which the Jeopardy round ended in a tie for last place was Show #7419 - Thursday, December 8, 2016 . One of the tied contestants, Anton Deljaj, posted on Reddit that the tiebreaking rule is not "leftmost tied player calls the first clue" as stated above, but "Since I had answered th...

Re: Quick Rules Q

I would think it would be the same tie-breaker rule as used to determine who gets $1000 and who gets $2000 if they tie before and after the final. I don't know the exact wording of the rule, but I think it's something like whoever gave the most recent correct answer is considered to be ahead (or ma...

Re: Reretaken Down

When I filled in at a Catholic church, their rendition of the Lord's Prayer went in a totally different direction after "deliver us from evil": Deliver us, Lord, from every evil, and grant us peace in our day. In your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful ...

Re: Thursday, June 6, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I liked Emma and was rooting for her to make the ToC, but I liked all three contestants in this exciting game and would have been OK with any of them winning. Just because I'm in denial about it being a losing battle: Emma definitely said "Asterisk", not "Asterix". Emma got away with "Asterisk" and...

Re: Season 36 Changes & Predictions

Heck, maybe one VERY MINOR flaw in James’ game is that he would hit the DD on his first clue call It may be minor but that's arguably what did him in. I think the biggest flaw in James's gameplay was that he played too conservatively. Yes, seriously. He made too few mistakes, and that did him in. H...

Re: Wednesday, June 5, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

To be fair, both references to Scholl in the clue were possessive ("This doctor's original sandals" and "his molefoam padding"). I don't see how that matters. The response starts "Who is..." and there's no way to fit a possessive there. Dr. Scholes is a pretty famous person too. Got a Nobel.* * Yea...

Re: Wednesday, June 5, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

To be fair, both references to Scholl in the clue were possessive ("This doctor's original sandals" and "his molefoam padding"). And I think that was the argument in the case of whatever clue I'm actually thinking of, that turned out not, in fact, to relate to Dr. Scholl's, but probably was similar...

Liz said "cheddar heads," and then Alex slowly inhaled long enough for her to realize she was wrong and change her response to the correct one.
