Re: Friday, September 24, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

floridagator wrote: Sat Sep 25, 2021 3:18 am That was a sucky clue that referred to Beethoven as a musician. He's a composer.
Leaving aside whether composers may be considered musicians, he was a virtuoso on the piano.

Re: Friday, September 24, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I wonder how Lisa "Vilnuis" Osterman feels about the Luisitania ruling. (I know "ui = u" is different from "ui ≠ iu," but I've always thought her "nuisance" stance was an interesting one.)

Re: Thursday, September 23, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

When Matt blurted out "Phoney Money" after Mayim declared him out of time, and just as Caroline buzzed in for the rebound, it almost phsyched Caroline out of saying the correct response. I believe she was thinking "did he just say funny money and get negged?". I don't think she ...

Re: Wednesday, September 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I had FJ solved pretty much as soon as Mayim finished reading the clue. I said 'Iron Curtain' instead of Berlin Wall, but I knew what they where looking for. You realize though that that is not enough to be credited? "Iron curtain" is strictly metaphorical, and does not refer to any physi...

Re: Wednesday, September 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I hope that clue about BCE not a harbinger that the show is going to start referring to dates that way. I will absolutely stop watching if they do that. That is unacceptable culture warring. No matter how many times people say they're quitting (or have quit) watching Jeopardy for whatever reason, t...

Re: Wednesday, September 22, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was hoping Christopher could sneak in and make FJ competitive, but that darn Paula kept ringing in. The nerve of her. How innominate. I knew when Matt played the Leon Rom DD that he wouldn't make the previously made error of turning the Heart of Darkness character into the Apocalypse Now c...

Re: Monday, September 20, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

LOL, just LOL at Mozart writing Send in the Clowns. Did he also write Officer Krupke? My mind briefly spluttered at that response, and then I realized he was erroneously Pavlov-ing from A Little Night Music , whose title, of course, is a literal translation of the common title Eine kleine Nachtmusi...

Re: Monday, September 20, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

They've accepted "Archduke Ferdinand" in FJ before, so it was neither to my surprise nor consternation that Matt's "Ferdinand" was accepted. I watched WWRR on Netflix with my brother a few years ago; it was his first time watching and my first time fully understanding it. When Ju...

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

I understand this to have been the season finale I can assure you there are more episodes this season. Thanks. My jump to conclusion was from Brad's tweet where he said "Last chance to tune in (for a while anyway)!" But yeah, even if I had known it was just a mid-season hiatus we're comin...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Jonathan seemed visibly frustrated with himself during the easy FJ for giving up the lead with his DD wager on the previous clue. Lori surprised him by getting FJ wrong.

Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

If I take the higher offer and don't end up banking it, I want to go out like Warren did, getting the first two questions wrong, so I can console myself with the assumption that missing the first two probably would have meant being caught even if I'd stuck with the default. Warren's questions: In th...

Re: Wednesday, September 15, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I said Toilken. The executive producer said spelling didn’t matter so I’m counting it. I'm not sure you should - the spelling can't change the pronunciation, and "TOIL-ken" isn't the same as "tol-KEEN" or "TOL-ken". Judging by how Paula Deen says "oil," I'm g...

I like how you use "du jour" on a person whose FJ clue mentioned 2009 (which was twelve years ago)

Her penultimate blog post was in May and was on the subject of fear, and in the final paragraphs she mentioned getting a scary diagnosis over six years ago and how she decided to live with it, but she said nothing more specific than that.
