Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Tom's obit says he was a 4x champ in the '70s. Considering it also refers to the Seniors Tournament as a ToC, I wonder how accurate that is.

Re: HQ Trivia

Could've/ should've won 100 or so Sunday night. I answered Lorde, which was right, and then got kicked out of the game. Every other answer I either knew or guessed correctly while playing along. I've never won before, so I missed out on a really good first payout. I made it cleanly through 14 quest...

I don't know what the intended response was for the batteries clue, but I think "single-use batteries" should be accepted alongside "disposable batteries."

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2018--Round 3 Instant Replay (SPOILERS)

I made the burg/berg mistake, as well, so perhaps unsurprisingly, I'm in favor of lenience in this ruling. After all, they do sound the same, which means I'd be credited with a correct response on the show. You say "as well," but you were the first to make it! I was merely speculating at the time t...

Re: Timing of Audition Invite Emails

Ray Crosby was referred by me. I don't know if my referral had anything to do with his getting on the show, but he had been passing contestant tests as early as 2005 if not earlier.

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2018--Round 3 Instant Replay (SPOILERS)

For the 8-pointer, are you looking for a German word? Could it be "uber"? Nope, the German phrase written was "the Zugspitze, for example" and the Zugspitze is the tallest mountain in Germany, so the answer is the German word for mountain, which is "berg" (as in iceberg) It hasn't come up yet, I'm ...

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2018--Round 2 Instant Replay (SPOILERS)

I'm one of the few who didn't get that Gandhi was protesting a salt tax. Afterwards I felt like a dope, but if the clue had said he led a march to the sea I might have had a better chance on it. Of course, since I was trying to draw parallels to the Boston Tea Party, maybe going to the sea wouldn't ...

"Panthalassia" wouldn't pass muster on the show, but I'm hoping for "close enough" leniency here.
