Re: Friday, January 8, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I bet many tears were shed in front of tv sets through the country. I have a lump in my throat. You are forever with us, Alex. This is an FJ which is easy to overthink as the name of the lady and even the Greek roots are a distraction...I reworded it in my head as "what is the term for different for...

Re: Wednesday, January 6, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Went as far as guessing it had to be a superhero movie and left it there. I suppose this would be a cinch to those of you who have seen it.

I can see the wagering police donning their gear.

Re: Tuesday, January 5, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Congratulations Brayden on your fantastic run and for cementing a place in the TOC. Good luck going forward. Man alive, these boards were tough. I felt like I was playing TOC Finals boards. I no longer keep score but agree that this board was not smooth. The perceived difficulty of some of the clues...

An FJ! clue that's easy when you know where it's going...
Word. Did not know Billy Wilder was a writer, but did not know the writer Some Like It Hot, so decided to go with Wilder.

Re: Online Quiz League USA - Presenting Pop Solos!

I played in the first season of the Online Quiz League and highly recommend this if pop culture is your cup of tea.

Well-organized with decent questions; format and people have been friendly and it was the best $20 I ever spent.

Re: Thursday, December 17, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Congrats to Brayden, he looks good (touch wood).

The FJ would have played much better if the category name itself eliminated English plays. I can see people spending a lot time thinking of Shakespearean characters with an unusual face/nose/mouth given the language in the clue.

Another Monday, another FJ miss.

Other than Leviathan, I also wondered if aurochs were ever mentioned in the Bible. Never thought of unicorns as a symbol of strength.

In that video games category, surely am not the only one who said Anne Rice for the 1K clue.

Too many adults on this board!

(Playing from the archive) - cannot believe no one has still called out Katherine's answer on the special events clue in the French Arts category (the rest of us non-adults were thinking it, weren't we)...so glad the person with that response won!

Thinking about Equatorial Guinea helped me with this FJ; I thought no way the "Z" countries are on the same latitude and it was a reasonably quick jump to Uganda.

Re: Monday, November 23, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I think there was plenty to point to Marshall here, what with his Nobel Peace Prize, the Marshall Plan, the tenure of that Dutch foreign minister, and the fact that Stettinius succeeded Hull before the war was over. I know of Hull's involvement in founding the UN, but if I can only pick one, there'...
