Re: Wednesday, January 22, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Dennis left his spot to graciously congratulate his opponents and then did a Snagglepuss. To me it looked like misunderstanding an offstage instruction and in no way looked like poor sportsmanship when Dennis was walking away. Dennis finally got the message and returned to his place for the after c...

Re: J! in the Media

^I heard it was because Merv Griffin wanted Bob Blake and Frank Spangenberg in the tournament at the last minute (after the original invitations had already been sent out), but I could be wrong.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Even though "5 wins" doesn't really mean anything anymore, I still take that as the benchmark. Once they've hit that, they've earned the notation. Less than 5 wins, they can wait until the ToC berth. I'd like someone to explain Randy Amasia (deceased), Ed Toutant (deceased), Bill Nyden, Dan Avila, ...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

^Personally, I'd go ahead and mark it as 10/22/86 (which was my guess for the airdate as well) and archive it when you get a chance to do so.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

$41,000 for three days (under old values) is quite impressive. Mark (or anyone else for that matter), would you happen to know about Gordon's stats on the day he was defeated?

Game show royalty in the house!
He was also in the audience in Dec. 1986 (before the audience was shown on-camera regularly, so whether or not you believe Alex's Final Jeopardy remark about it is up to you) as well:

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

If you've got Netflix, this is a good one to watch. As for me, I've got to figure out which game is was that I started on last week, so I can get to it. There are more games outside of my current checklist tempting me to enter them. Good night all. Was it this one? http://www.j-archive.com/showgame...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Players eliminated in the QF round have the option to stay for Day 2 or not. Yes, D.J. not being around was understandable and he may not have had a choice. His earlier WoF appearance before year was up has been cited here. Bob seems to have missed out on the unexpected open slot in the semis on a ...

Re: Harry Friedman stepping down after Season 36

I wonder if whoever becomes the new producer thinks about doing these things: 1. Bring back Teen Tournament winners getting a spot in the upcoming TOC 2. Bring back five time champions winning a car again, whether it's just a luxury car for winning only five games or something such as a Toyota Corol...

I would think Ledecky might have something to say about COLLEGE SPORTS $500? So it's one of those...
