Re: TD 453 - Quiz Bowl [Q1-Q5 revealed]

I'm sure that if there was a question along the lines of "name any number from 1-100, inclusive", that somehow I would find the sheep. I'm sure multiple people would pick... 37. Or whatever number I would include. I can't believe you picked 37, because I absolutely would've sheeped us both by also ...

Re: The crisis in TDs

Just grasping at straws here, and it pertains to me so it might pertain to others as well... The ongoing COVID-19 situation has sort of forced me to take stock of things in life and what I do with my time. Working from home has provided a lot of extra time on my hands. But in an almost counterintuit...

Re: Glenn Kagan Sues Sony For Age Discrimination

Glenn ran my audition as well. Afterward, we had a fun banter about one of the categories I got in my mock game - "THE PEN IS MIGHTIER" :)

but hash isn't a synonym for food in general. Is there some other meaning I'm not getting?
Sure it is - especially cheap, diner-quality food. Haven't you ever heard of short-order cooking referred to as "slinging hash"?

This Native American name for the 1 Great Lake not known to us today by a Native American word or a tribe’s name appears in an 1855 poem It's not a miracle of clarity, but it does have the advantage of stating up front what they're after. Why not just name Lake Superior? Yes, it would have made the...

The contents of eggs benedict were unfamiliar to me. Yet more hyper-fancy food I don't see why I should know. English muffin? Why can't they enjoy regular muffins like the rest of us? I'm not sure I'd call something you can get at almost any roadside diner in America (and almost in sandwich form at...

Someone mentioned "pen" vs. "pin" in a Facebook group in relation to last night's FJ scoring decision. In a good part of the south those two words are pronounced the same and that might give some of us who would pronounce Barry and Berry the same some perspective. If the FJ clue was something like ...

4/8: Didn't see a TOM in this one at all.
You seriously didn't think the word "finch", when used in a question about American authors, might have been placed there to tickle a response?

Went to catch up on Teachers Tournament, only to find Tuesday's (second) semifinal pre-empted by live protest coverage on the DC affiliate. Even though I also get the Baltimore affiliate here, I never think to record it because XFinity only offers the Baltimore affiliate in, unbelievably, SD.

Re: Season 36/GOAT Thoughts

One thing that stands out to me about this season is the extraordinary number of female champions and superchampions. There have been plenty in the past for sure, but this year seemed to be the year of the women. Jennifer Quail, Karen Farrell, V-V-V, Mackenzie Jones, even Sarah Jett Rayburn and a fe...

Abby Wombach, Megan Rapinoe, Hope Solo = Women's soccer. Mark's right, they all are top-box famous. We've won the last two World Cups, and have placed top 3 every year since it's started in 1991. Also had 5 consecutive Olympic medals (4 gold, 1 silver) until we got knocked out in 2016 in fifth plac...

Judges .. "Sleeve" for Shoe?: "Wearable term for the box from which cards are dealt for blackjack in a casino"? You're the one over-emphasizing the word "national". Again, this is suggesting that literally everything "national" absolutely positively HAS to be in DC. Seriously, what other "complex"es of "National Museums" are there in the US? Sure, there are "National Museums of xxxxx" all over the place, lik...

2020 Ken talks briefly about the match before it begins. What did he say? I (and my recorder) missed the start of the show. On YT I turned it up with a jeopardy 2020 search. Great, I'll never unsee the people in the comments saying Ken and James lost on purpose. Don't forget that James threw the GO...

They just had the college tournament so I doubt they want to rerun that so soon. So who knows what will happen.
I just hope they don't cave to the social media masses and start airing a James-a-thon.

This is also the same group that largely insists that James "threw" the GOAT tournament ... insist that he threw his 33rd game to Emma Boetcher because ... his "little girl wanted Daddy home". Consider the source. This is also the same group that largely insists that James "threw" the GOAT tournam...
