Re: Monday, June 1, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Judges .. "Sleeve" for Shoe?: "Wearable term for the box from which cards are dealt for blackjack in a casino"? I'm guessing no, as I'm surprised that I'm not finding much on Google for the term at all .. yet both myself and my g/f, who have spent our fair share of time in the casino (usually at po...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

You're the one over-emphasizing the word "national". Again, this is suggesting that literally everything "national" absolutely positively HAS to be in DC. Seriously, what other "complex"es of "National Museums" are there in the US? Sure, there are "National Museums of xxxxx" all over the place, lik...

Re: Tuesday, November 30, 2004 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

2020 Ken talks briefly about the match before it begins. What did he say? I (and my recorder) missed the start of the show. On YT I turned it up with a jeopardy 2020 search. Great, I'll never unsee the people in the comments saying Ken and James lost on purpose. Don't forget that James threw the GO...

They just had the college tournament so I doubt they want to rerun that so soon. So who knows what will happen.
I just hope they don't cave to the social media masses and start airing a James-a-thon.

This is also the same group that largely insists that James "threw" the GOAT tournament ... insist that he threw his 33rd game to Emma Boetcher because ... his "little girl wanted Daddy home". I hadn't seen that one (but then again, I pay no attention to those types). Yeah, being gone two days ever...

Re: GOAT Tournament Day 1 (1/7/20) Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

On the Jeopardy FB page there was an article about the first match. Some commented admonishing Alex for not maintaining social distancing and wondered if there were actual people in attendance. Consider the source. This is also the same group that largely insists that James "threw" the GOAT tournam...

Thanks for putting this together. My first time on the podium despite completely missing the HOF requirement for the baseball players. I credit growing up on the campus of UMBC for the Retrievers singleton and sharing a birthday with W.H. Harrison for that one. And I would have won had I put Picadil...

Before today, I would have sworn "Mariana Trench" was wrong. In fact, I was waiting for them to reverse it after the second break. I've never heard it referred to as anything but the "Marianas Trench". Learn something new every day, huh.

UPDATE: Test says "unavailable" on the homepage for some reason, but it still allows you to register and take it at this time. I took it today (4/26) successfully.

Or maybe we should just give him free reign on this one. I mean, for all intensive purposes "thing" is correct in that phrase these days. But it's definitely peeked my curiosity to see how he'll respond. I'm waiting with baited breath. Pretty sure you buried the lead on that. I should of known this...

I said vegetables for the meat and three. Judges? C'mon man, a Bama Man should know the "three" could easily include fried apples or applesauce, cornbread, beans, mac & cheese, grits... basically lots of things that aren't vegetables ;) As for FJ!, how much easier could it have gotten? Only two cou...

New York was the largest state by population in the nation for the majority of this country's existence. Virginia was top dog for the first two censuses, and then New York took over until the 1960 census, when California took the lead. (Texas grabbed the number two position about 20 years ago, and ...

That Final Jeopardy! was hard for a College Championship, in my opinion. WECIB? Is history not taught anymore? The reason I thought it was hard is because VJ from FikkleFame predicted in the comments of a thread on his site that nobody would get it right (he was close to that). Source: https://fikk...

Re: Boardie Poll About Taking The Test

Took the test many times in Atlantic City at Merv Griffin's Resorts in the 90's. Have taken and passed every year since at least 2013. Last test I took was in 2018 and I finally got called to audition in Philadelphia in September of 2018, thus (in theory) being in the pool until just a few days ago ...

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

For a Wheel of Fortune champion, you're surprisingly inept at completing phrases. I shouldn't have to do THAT DEEP of a mental dig in the top box. Silver Spring is what, the 100,000th most populous city in Maryland? Probably not even in the top 100 of ways to complete "Silver ____". Your reasoning ...

Ran Good Choice, 4/5 in Men, You (overthought "fraternity") and Desert (didn't realize Australia had deserts).
Not only does it HAVE deserts, fully 35% of the continent is covered in true desert, and another 35% is semi-arid.
