Re: Final Jeopardy! Clues

US PRESIDENTS The only president to serve less than four full years in each of two separate terms Who was FDR? (First term was Mar 4, 1933 to Jan 20, 1937 due to passage of the 20th amendment, and died during his fourth term) My guess was McKinley, thinking that his first term was one day shorter t...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Here’s a test for cheezguyty: In their first six games has any contestant done better than Amanda for fewest TS clues total in their games? Scott Gillispie may have; the Archive shows only 10 Triple Stumpers in his first six appearances, but two-thirds of his fourth game are missing. Tying Amanda w...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Rebekah was in a rare spot (if not only time?) to play DD3 at clue 30 of F2. If it isn’t the only time I am sure Cheezy or Sg will correct you soon. It's not a correction, it's a clarification. :ugeek: :) Other times when the third Daily Double came at clue 30 in a deciding game: 1987 Tournament of...

The remind-alike game was easy today with Lindsay, as from moment one of her speaking (coupled with her appearance) it was Beth Behrs as Gemma Johnson on CBS's The Neighborhood . I had two thoughts upon seeing the challengers introduced: that Lindsay looks like the blonde version of Season 34 champ...

I might need a flame retardant suit for this one... With Hint 1 feels like how I'd run with it, but since I can't take -away- information, you get hard mode first. We now know two of the wild cards. If nobody tops $14,000 tomorrow, we will have all four from two games. Has that ever happened before?
All four wildcards for the 2013 College Championship came from the first two quarterfinal games: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1331.

Re: Couple questions about two 80s clues

Maybe "officially named Catalan" doesn't mean what we're thinking it does. Like perhaps they meant that the country's official name is in Catalan. Entirely possible. They were fast and loose with clue text in the early days That works if you put 'in' before Catalan. Maybe they left it out, or maybe...

Creator of “Beetle Bailey”, whose name was defined in “B.C.” as “a dead nightcrawler” The answer is Mort Walker, but I could not find any reference in B.C. cartoons that refer to Mort Walker as a "dead nightcrawler", and I can't identify why Johnny Hart, who wrote the B.C. cartoons, would have some...

Any lambastes of the official website's listing of Nathan as a "restauranteur"? That reminds me of the show's creative spelling of that word in this 2016 clue: restaurauteur.png I still can't decide if that was done on purpose. I'm not sure I would classify Arnold as an "auteur" of the culinary art...

Wow, as a result of this episode, I wonder when the last time was where all 5 winners of the week came from the third podium. The last time when a contestant at the rightmost podium won every game in a week was March 2-6, 2009. That was also the most recent time when that happened in five straight ...

The clue is referring to the 1975 book Felton & Fowler's Best, Worst, and Most Unusual. Here's the relevant passage:

The FJ! clue came to me quickly as "cartographic feature... passes" was enough for me to sniff out the feature and from there it would be sad if I could not figure out the country. I gave myself a BMS/credit for "St. Charles" instead of "St. Charles Place", because I would have gotten there.
"Place" was given in the clue.
