Re: Wednesday, March 3, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I picked Notre Dame for the same reason. Maybe good poll options would be "I have been to the Louvre" or, if extra room, "I have been to Notre Dame Cathedral". I'd find it hard to believe that if you've been to one, you haven't been to the other (I would check both boxes -- and Sacre-Coeur, which I...

Like others, I went with ND. Honestly, if you told me it was the Louvre, I still wouldn't have picked it, as I didn't think it was nearly that old.

If Bibi crossed my mind, I never would have thought he was in office that long. I had no answer.
He wasn't. He was there from 96-99 and then again from 09 to present.

I couldn't come up with anyone who made any sense, so I just guessed John Howard of Australia.

How many got the quilt question here? I was nervous assigning defense. I knew it because I live in Alabama and have heard about the quilting ladies. I just didn’t know if it was widely known or if it could be puzzled out. It seemed to play hard, though not as hard as Joker’s Wild. Nope. I guessed o...

Re: Poll on Boardies Covid-19 Impact

Well, we are now COVID survivors. I went back to work yesterday (an overnight shift) and got through it. My wife also went back to her job. She drives a school bus so she was worried about being alert for that but she made it fine. Luckily, we never had breathing issues. Just no energy. Neither of ...

The one I kicked myself over was saying "JUMPED over the lazy dog" instead of "jumps". Going over the phrase, I realized "jumps" is the only word with an S, so it has to be "jumps". I blame Bill Murray in Stripes for feeling overconfident on that one
Why? They say "jumps" in that, too.

To the contestants who did not get the John Young & Robert Crippen visual clue: Did you see what they were holding? Are video clues that tough in the studio? So strange. Right? Re: Friday, February 26, 2021 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Was guest host Mike's description of the XYZ affair accurate? Were the French trying to bribe the Americans (as Mike claimed) or were they demanding bribes from the Americans? I've always understood it to be the latter. Talleyrand, the French diplomat, wanted a bribe before any negotiations would s...

Blanked on Jeter.

I've definitely seen Jeter and Jackson in person. It's possible I saw Banks, but I would have been too young to realize/remember. Definitely never saw Williams and fairly certain I never saw Johnson.

Question: "Affair" isn't specific enough; would just "XYZ" work? What about XYZ issue or XYZ scandal? Personally, I would neg all of those. It's only ever been known as "affair". I was worried the baseball category would go the way of the infamous football category but I joined Syed in knocking it ...

Not that it would have mattered since she couldn’t get anything right, but with $200K banked, it doesn’t make much sense to me to go for $50K when the low offer presented is $27K. If the two of you get to the final chase, it becomes winning either $113,500 vs. $125,000 each. Take the low offer. It ...

I think at the end Pat just decided that "close enough" was finally reached.
