Only 26% knew Oklahoma when given 1889 and “sooner”?
Didn't even realize that about "sooner" until I saw it mentioned this morning.

Also, Radar is "radio detection and ranging". Not sure why "direction" is being accepted.

Any reason I should know Parks had anything to do with streetcars?
No reason, as she had nothing to do with them. I think this was just an oddly-worded clue that was basically saying that Parks is to buses what Truth was to streetcars.

Re: Thursday, June 13, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I don't understand that "flimflam game" clue at all. I can't think of any terms for revered people that have "con" in them, nor do I see how "con" has to do with games. A revered person is known as a CONI. Con is related to games because Con Conrad, before he became a songwriter, was a partner of M...

If she mistook Asterix for an asterisk she didn't hit the k very hard. It sounds more like Asteriss to me - not much of a French accent, but an acceptable response... The (lack of) accent is partly why it's hard to be certain what she said, since she uses a short, American i and not a French i, mak...

I suppose I could have got Kamala Harris (said the man with the .381 current events score).
Even if I knew they were presidential hopefuls, I still doubt I would have gotten Harris.

The surprising one for me yesterday was Q1. I had Hamitic and was quite surprised that wasn't the MCWA given the clue that it was named for one of Noah's sons.
Hamitic was my guess.

Like Dan, I said "seppuku" but worried a little bit that they were looking for "hara-kiri". I'm not entirely clear on the distinction or if, at least for J! purposes, they're interchangeable.
They're the exact same thing.

Was anyone else thrown by the wording on Entertainment for $200? Alex didn't emphasize the "he" very well, so I couldn't grasp what the clue was asking for.

Re: Quick Rules Q

On the note of the tie for second place for FJ!, I seem to remember that in the past, if there was a three-way tie for 0 in a semi-final game, then the player leading at the end of DJ! would go into the finals. Maybe as a wild card, if there were too many other zeros from the non-winners. Otherwise...

Re: LL81: LearnedLeague

I started out with Dalai as the first entry but scratched that because I knew the Panchen Lama was the second highest ranking. From there I thought “what else gets Tibetan/Nepalese names?” and also recognized a few of those names. That's what I thought, too, but Lhotse kept smacking me, telling me ...
