Re: Friday, September 20, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Also, yesterday on the Oceans category, I WAGged on five clues and was wrong all five times. THAT is why I don't guess. We're not talking about ringing in and guessing blindly on regular clues. We're talking about FJ, where not writing any response guarantees that you'll get it wrong. But there hav...

That eBook clue seemed poorly pinned. I don't know how there could've been an ebook in 1991.
You're right. There were no computers in 1991.

Re: Friday, September 20, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Probably would have said Jefferson, except when I worked at 7-11 a few years ago, someone actually paid for their stuff with a Jackson $10 bill. I asked them if they really wanted to pay with it and they said yeah, as it wasn't worth more than $10 in the condition it was in anyway.

And ... Antonio Brown has been released by the Patriots.

I suspect that last Sunday is the last football AB will ever play.

The Maltese Falcon hint was useless to me. Once you get past Humphrey Bogart, "Play it, Sam," and "Of all the gin joints ..." I've exhausted my knowledge of the film.
Your knowledge of the film is even less than you think it is... ;)
Hey, 1 out of 3 isn't bad.

OK, yeah it is. ;)

I wonder what variations were accepted for 'cave.' My "study of caves" was accepted. The LL forum leads me to believe 'spelunking' was accepted. I think we found the clunker clue of the season.
Spelunking was not accepted.

"Blink" seemed very obscure for $400.

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

How are others finding this season difficulty-wise? Right now I'm up about 50 points on my historical QPct, so it's been easier than normal for me. Unfortunately my poor defense has left me mired in the bottom half of my rundle. My QPct is down about 25 points and my defense sucks, too. I've given ...

Never heard of Gath.
If I have seen Ed Sullivan, I was too young to remember it.
I have been to the National Air and Space Museum (and the better National Air and Space Museum over at Udvar-Hazy. :) )

Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I didn't think it would be "The Periodic Table," which felt a little clunky to me (and besides, the actual thing has more than 21 elements! Even in 1975!), and I vacillated between "Periodic" and "Periodical" before trying to think of something that sounded a little more literary, and came up with ...

I considered Hillary to be from Illinois, but when I had counted back to Reagan, I assumed I did something wrong. Put down 2004, just to have something. First miss of the season.
Just as an FYI, the time before 2016 was 1944 (FDR and Dewey both from NY).

Re: Fun with GSN's "Common Knowledge"

The question is pretty easy to work out as 1:10, the second hand is on the two and the hour hand is only slightly past the one and in 5:25, the second hand is on the five and the hour hand is less than half way towards the 6. Unfortunately, the three teammates did not think it through and all said ...

Of course. The clue was asking for the original name of the museum, not the current one (but J! will almost always accept extra, so long as that extra is not incorrect). I also answered the National Air Museum.

Yeah, but they're useless, so no loss.
