Re: LL82: LearnedLeague

I was 95% sure that Washington and Lincoln were the bookends, and since Jefferson is basically Washington with red hair, I figured that separating those two was the æsthetically obvious choice. I was torn because JRL seems more suggestive of a town name ('JoRaLemon', say), but fortunately, I guess,...

Re: Thursday, September 19, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Thanks Alex for clarifying where to find the Andes Mountain. In South America. Good to know. The Gladwell clue reminded me that the author has a new book out, Talking to Strangers . I'm not surprised that the explorer clue in FERDINAND had a bite for negging with Magellan. TOYS & GAMES is what I lik...

Re: What’s up with j-archive?

There has been some middle names of Red Thomas/Goldie Wilson today as I filled in 9/13: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6414

9/9 & 9/10 have been filled in by others and today's 9/18 appears close to completion as well.

A little scattershot though still better than nothing.

Re: What’s up with j-archive?

I think the first post is a joke ("Season 37 or 38") but I get it. The truth is I am too busy doing a major rewrite of the back-end (and family + job) to put in those games. Also, my recording methodology completely fell apart and I have no way to record the games (although I am working on getting ...

Re: Wednesday, September 18, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Rough J! round for Jason although it did not matter as DJ! is where the money is made and Jason played much better there including back on track with finding and converting DDs. Jason knew he liked Metal Bands and bet accordingly on DD2. After the reveal of the FJ! category Alex of course said, "You...

*crosses fingers* Goin in for PRK in about 2 hours so if I don't show up the next couple days it's because my face will be covered in ice (reportedly) Good luck! It is an amazing experience (LASIK in my case). It was, and still is, an experience to be sure. Having brief moments of clarity which is ...

Re: Tuesday, September 17, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Redemption for NATIONAL ANTHEMS came quickly when Common Knowledge asked for the final word of "The Star-Spangled Banner" among choices of "brave", "free" or "land." One went with "free" to lose the bonus points for the sweep.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I filled in 2/28/02: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=1444

That should complete February 2002 and all of the links should work.

Interested in what people's thought process on the San Antonio one was. Asked for a city with an "eventful history concerning military compounds" I came up with San Antonio, Charleston (Fort Sumter) and Honolulu (Pearl Harbor) and didn't really know how to narrow it down from there. I went with Cha...

Alex opening the DJ! round: One of the tricks to beating our champion Jason is discovering the Daily Doubles before he does. Colin, that might be some good advice for you. Colin found DD2 and DD3 to add 8500 to his score yet he still trailed by 2700 entering the FJ! round. With a triple miss Alex's ...

Re: 2019 Current Events Study Guide

S34 & S35 had a clue about the NBC show American Ninja Warrior . For Season 11 of American Ninja Warrior that ended on 9/16/19 this is a spoiler. Whoever finishes the furthest get $100,000. If someone completes Stage 4 within 30 seconds then the prize is $1,000,000. If two people both complete Stage...

Re: Monday, September 16, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Jason needs $54K+ to pass Austin and Julia on the money list in regular play. 27R and 3/3 on DDs like today is the way to keep winning. He needs $54,970 to pass Austin and Matt . He would need to average $35,735 over the next two games to pass Julia. Matt, right. I did not mean to stretch that + on...

Wow! How often do we see a spelling mistake in a Jeopardy! clue??? I grabbed my phone to take a screen shot as soon as I noticed it, but was too late to catch it. The initial reveal was okay while it was the secondary shot with the error. Here are both: https://i.ibb.co/YT5423N/nobel.jpg https://i....

Re: Monday, September 16, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Funny that Jason got Avalon on Friday and Camelot today. Five more clues left on the boards today. :( It was obvious the editor was working today as Laura had at least 3 clipped responses that shorted the hearing of her proper phrasing. It's there and just misses being heard fully to irk some needle...

Thanks for hosting! Woohoo!
Well done. [Dap!] The use-a-drop strategy worked well enough over avoiding the lifelines for the bonus at the end.

Thanks for the game Ironhorse. Yes, 39 is a good turnout and your game was quite playable with many options.
