Re: Wednesday, May 22, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The first game with James was Thursday, April 4th. The Teachers Tournament taped a few days prior to his airing debut. Jackie Fuchs had a Twitter post on Sunday, April 7th that she (and others champs) were at the last taping for Season 35. If there were J! tapings on April 4th or 5th it's nothing I...

The writers got thrown for a curve with Sara finding an alternate acceptable response that matched a cranberry drink and magazine.

I have seen them send people home after the paper test + before the mock games. Mind you, this was many, many years ago.
"many years ago" = "before the age of the online test".

Calcium despite being familiar with the use of Bismuth. Knew Mavis. FJ ... in my book that's unfair sticking a clunker like that in the first round of a tourney. The other FJs haven't approached this level of difficulty. Count me as another "Good Grief" with a detour to figuring out what they might...

Re: Question about game scheduling

So Friday's show included a category called SCI-FI STUFF, which Alex introduced by saying "In honor of tomorrow's date, 'May the 4th be with you'..."). And In the past, especially on holidays, they've had categories that tied in to the specific air date. Bob Harris's Halloween game with the movie m...

Re: Friday, April 17, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Since they record the show number and air date at the beginning of each show (see the Wikileaks thread), I would think it unlikely that they would mess with the order they had scheduled the shows for. What Bamaman is proposing could be done; I just think they wouldn't do it. Seeing as this thread g...

I'm fairly new to the board, how are you guys getting the show early? I'm in TN and the show doesn't air here until 3:30pm CDT.

Re: Rule Change Effective 4/29/19 - No More FJ! Shout-Outs

I heard about this change here . Apparently, now any FJ! shout-outs will be treated as additional information to the response and will render it as incorrect (even if without the shout-out it'd be right). There has been no citation to prove the second sentence. In fact, your cited source literally ...

Re: J! in the Media

This: "I did not go to “Jeopardy!” expecting to win." I once posted this very question on Reddit (how many people go on J! thinking they can win?), and the overwhelming response was "everybody". Haha, I was right. It's *not* everybody There's a big difference between "I think I can win" and "I expe...

I don't think the specific game is archived, but in The Jeopardy! Book, Roy Holliday talks about running SOUTHERN AUTHORS bottom-to-top in the midst of a late-game comeback.

Re: Wednesday, April 24, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

James is going to have to come back to the field a bit in order to be beaten; I can't see him losing a game in which he has a Coryat anywhere near his current average of $29,907.

Re: Tuesday, April 23, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

James is now 13/14 in FJ. As far as I was able to search, Austin Rogers is the only other person who played 14 FJs with only one miss. Austin's second miss came in his 16th FJ. More seasoned J! historians: feel free to correct me. Ben Ingram improved to 13-for-14 when he got his Final Jeopardy in t...

Re: So...what have we learned so far from James Holzhauer?

Now I heard they added 2 extra tape days... This did not happen. Tape days that were originally scheduled on April 8 & 9 got pushed up to March 30 and April 6, to accommodate Alex's treatment schedule. The show only has until the July 26 episode in the can at this juncture. Also, tape days in 2004 ...

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

May 14 and May 23 are pretty far apart. That seems longer than they ever spend in a single city. Do we know which of these dates is more likely to be correct? (In the extremely unlikely event that I got a replacement call, May 23 would be a much better date for me, although of course I would move H...

Re: So...what have we learned so far from James Holzhauer?

If that's the case, why look at the question at all? Just focus on the lights and process the question after you buzz in. Assume that you're the only person playing this strategy. If you're going with "shoot first, ask questions later", your opponents are more likely to "stay clam" on clues that ar...
