Re: Game Recap Summaries
I believe that Brian set up some sort of server-side script that would: Step 1: Pull the automatically generated content. Not sure if this was via a MySQL query or via a scrape of the PHP file where that content was generated. Step 2: Run a command line MySQL query that edited the specific post comm...

Re: 2024 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament
If they were letting contestants in for non-Jeopardy! quizzing achievements (which apparently they were), then I think that based on my achievements and results in the wider quizzing world, especially in the last 18 months, I deserved a call as much as any quizzer in the world, and if a call from C...

Re: 2024 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament
I was under the impression that he was a controversial figure for the show, hence him not being invited back since he played in his ToC (though I don't know that there were any real opportunities for him aside from the tournament that was played in teams?). This impression is mistaken; he was never...

Re: 2024 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament
There are three clear favorites: Alex, Matt, and Larissa. Odds on someone from the rest of field winning should pay four to one. And with Brandon and Victoria that means we now have case(s) of contestants being brought back for reasons outside of Jeopardy. Call me a luddite, but I don't like it. Wh...

It begins airing the episode after the ToC finishes.

Re: Friday, March 8, 2024 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
The clue subjects were largely about straight, White, male and non Jewish people. The clue writers did a better job of highlighting 13 letter words than highlighting minorities. Wondering why the 92nd Street Y has a category on it is not antisemitism. If you describe: Emma Lazarus Elie Wiesel Pablo...

Re: Friday, March 8, 2024 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)
just why is there a category about the 92nd Street y, this is a 'c landmark' at best and would probably be just as good to choose another random landmark from another hometown the writer was from. if your landmark has the name of the street to specify it, (making it sound like a fast food restauran...

Re: J! in the Media
It's more "cost certainty" than "budget reduction".
It's a lot easier to be certain of your prize budget for a season when you run more tournaments that have a fixed prize structure.

Re: Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions alternates - who were they
Presumably due to the relaxing of COVID-era restrictions, there was only one alternate for the ToC, and it was Andy Tirrell.

Re: 2024 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament
I reiterate: Regardless of what you may have seen on Reddit yesterday, it is a 27 player field.
This has been confirmed by both the show on the podcast, and, most importantly, audience members who saw the tournament being taped.

Re: 2024 Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament
It's 21 players. Like last season's TOC. Sam, Amy, Andrew have byes. and Mark's post on the podcast thread mentioned one player who hadn't played in more than a decade, not several players. I hope that one is Brian Weikle. It's 27 players with no byes, as confirmed by both Sarah on the podcast and ...

There will be no players from the 2022 ToC to the present as those players had a chance to qualify for Masters through ToCs.

Paid Radio Classics: Looks like Season 1 that we've already seen + early Season 7.
Paid Radio: Looks like some Ken Jennings games.
Seems like we've gone back to the start.

This is a stacked field, though—and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if any of the Go...
