Re: New old games in the J! Archive -- 2/20/19

Ok, coming clean, I entered that game (one of my first) into the archive about 14 years ago. It was (and still is) transcribed from an audiocassette I recorded that show on, so there may be a few punctuation marks missing on some of the clues. 8-)

Cue the first College Champ in 1989, Tom Cubbage, who later on that year went on to bigger and better things... 8-)

And those other challengers' names are:
Jim Newman
Denise Rechter

(Speaking of old shows, today is the release date for "The Jeopardy Book of Answers." Good read, lots of pictures.)

Haven't read Brave New World, but saw the 1998 NBC-TV movie with Leonard Nimoy as controller Mond, and everyone had access to the drug Soma.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

At least this time, Gerald Dial didn't bring back his folksy campaign song, "It's a New Day in Alabama" for his runoff ads. Also, the wife of one of the candidates for attorney general, Steve Marshall, passed away during this time between elections, so the ads disappeared for a brief time, in respec...

As for those political ads, down here across the border, we're subjected to the Bama ads, and to a lesser extent right now, the Florida ones....rest assured, Bama will crank the machine up again, come mid/late September!

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

There was the December 2, 1988 game where Jack Lechner had $27,500 going into FJ; he missed the final and lost $15K, even though he still won.

...and the Family Channel originally was known as CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network), founded by Pat Robertson, whose 700 Club, even with all the name/ownership changes, still airs today on Freeform, despite all the attempts to remove it.

In my area, WPGX (Dothan) did the cut-in, while WJHG (Panama City) stayed the course (from the one clip I saw despite the OTA signal on the fritz)

I have seen parts of the Charlotte's Web animated movie. (Paul Lynde as Templeton, the wisecracking rat.) Have the Lion King DVD, but haven't watched it yet (it's "sequel"/The Lion King 2, reviews the original movie from Timon & Pumbaa's point of view & a Who Wants to Be A Millionaire segment with M...

No problem with Dayton, passing thru there about a zillion times. "Semi-Bypass" I-675 is there next to the Air Force base (would connect fully back to I-75 north of town, but I think the Air Force owns some of that land on which the highway would be built on.)

No problem with $1K: Judge Alan Page, Carl Eller, Jim "Wrong-Way" Marshall & Gary Larson (not the "Far Side" cartoonist; he looks like Eric the Red on his 1975 Topps Football card!) 8-)

Re: Final Fleming Episode

Original show cancellation: look up Lin Bolen, who wanted to bring NBC game shows and hosts into a '70s look.
Pilot for short-lived remake in 1977. The "14th Edition" (there was not a 13th) home game was in 1982 (interesting how a clue on the 1981 World Series got there?).
