Zwiener. I before e except after Labor Day.
You are my favorite person right now. I recently released an ad filmed at our local wiener dog races, and all the shares with "Zweiner" and "weiner" hurt my heart a little.

Re: Erin Zweiner in Time magazine

Well this isn't what I expected to find while googling myself tonight :) How are y'all doing? The Texas Tribune just named this race one of the most flippable house seats in Texas. We've had massive demographic shifts over the past decade (Hays County is one of the fastest growing in the country), w...

Study of Uptalk in Jeopardy! Contestants

Apparently a sociologist analyzed contestant's voice intonation.

Re: Other than making the cut for audition, does Online Score matter?

I did better on the in-person test than the audition, but I'd have to agree that the mock game/interview has more to do with selection than the test scores. However, it's not how many right answers you get. It's more speaking up and ringing in even it's only a guess. The last thing the show wants is...

I went to Christa McAullife elementary school as a kid I'm going to make two guesses based on that: (1) you're younger than me, and (2) you went to elementary school in New Hampshire. 1. Probably. I'm 28. 2. Nope. I went to school in Texas. Her mother came to visit the school once and talked about ...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Central), January 8, 2014

If I didn't pass this one then I don't deserve to be on the show. There were a few toughies in the middle portion, between questions 20-30, iirc, but overall this was one of the easiest adult tests that I remember. Agreed. Though I was in full on choke mode. Couldn't name the Danish explorer. Tried...

Re: online test study guide

Brad Paisley released one of the biggest country albums of the year with Wheelhouse, which has got to be a tempting name for the Jeopardy writers. That album also featured the very controversial duet with LL Cool J, "Accidental Racist" and "Southern Comfort Zone". If something sounds like "bro count...

Re: The Call and Tests Under 35(possible but unlikely spoilers)

Oh, I also said something to Maggie about being surprised I got the audition because of my 34 score, and she made some remark about how everybody thinks they know how the selection process, but really no one has any idea and they'll never tell. I have no idea if that means anything or not.

5. IVY LEAGUE SCHOOLS Their sports teams play as the Bears, making them cousins to the Grizzly. Brown Animal-nut nitpick. Brown bears aren't cousin to grizzlies. Brown bear is the common name for the species. Grizzly bear is the common name for a subspecies of brown bear. Maybe wording like Their s...

Re: The Call and Tests Under 35(possible but unlikely spoilers)

I'm relatively sure than I got 34 correct on the 2012 test, though I did have a partial answer or two typed in that may have gotten credit to bring me to 35. I got invited to the Dallas audition in March, and got the call in May. I wonder if the non-standard audition cities have less demand and some...

I thought you were going to take the J! money and write a novel or something. Or was that someone else? Either way, good hearing from you even if it's a drive-by. Best of luck in grad school. Grad school for creative writing :) And I suppose I'll start my own shameless promotion thread one of these...

Re: Tuesday, September 25, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Judas died in disgrace and was buried somewhere because nobody wanted to deal with his body. To me, it seems rather offensive to call a place where we bury indigent people after a place where they buried Judas. I'm actually not sure where this "place Judas was buried" idea comes from. Anyone care t...

Re: Friday, October 5, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

How are Harding and Garfield at all consonant? I can see and hear assonance; they've bot got "ar" and "i" sounds (the R being semi-vocalic here). But the only consonant they have in common (directly compared in order) is the R, which is more of a vowel modifier in both names. Consonance doesn't hav...

Just go to d'Orsay and the Louvre. I think 90% of the art they ask about on Jeopardy is in one of those museums.

Oh, and 46 out of 50 running through it. This test seemed absurdly easy, in part because all the answers just came so quick. There were very few questions you actually had to think about.

Seconded. Also, Luncheon on the Grass, Olympia and A Bar at the Folies-Bergere are the three Manet works you should know by name. It's worth to really learn the difference between those two. From the Jeopardy perspective, they come up all the time. From the well rounded person side of things, they'...
