Re: New old games in the J! Archive

For whatever reason I was just looking at the 1987 Michael J. Fox/Joan Jett movie "Light of Day" that someone had uploaded to YouTube, and as I was clicking around, I happened to hear the familiar 3-note "Times up" signal. So I scroll back, and sure enough, there's a guy in a hotel room, reading Rip...

Not yet, but because I am not sophisticated enough to have both development and production copies of the Archive, you never know when I will screw something up at the exact same time when you hit "Submit" on a round!

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

"Vraiment, a French restaurant..." Yes, it should be included as it is part of the clue. I would not bother to put it in italics, as it would not be italicized on the clue screen. Vraiment means 'truly' (or 'really'). Thanks to both of you. Does entering games right now interfere with your Archive ...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

What is Alex saying in "French" at the beginning of this clue? Is it something that should be included in the Archive clue text?

(I think I have a better copy of this game on this tape. I might have to see if I can get a different recording.)

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

We already had a clue in the archive where "Ichiro" by itself was considered correct for the baseball player, but now we have one were the player says "Ichiro" and Alex adds "Suzuki". There's also one in the archive where the player says "Suzuki" and Alex adds "Ichiro", so we have a rare example of ...

According to Vulture.com, Jeopardy Collection 2 is coming to Netflix at the end of the month. Probably nothing relevant to this thread, but we can always hope. https://www.vulture.com/article/new-on-netflix-movies-shows-originals.html In a world where people pay attention to us, Netflix and Sony wo...

Thanks to the wonderful world of alphabetizing, I start the season in 18th place, better than the 20th place I finished LL79. Looking forward to February 20th, as always.

Re: 2019 Current Events Study Guide

And yet, an offensive player won the MVP. Julian Edelman had 10 catches for 140 yards for the Patriots. But shouldn't someone on the defence that stopped the rams from doing anything have won? Edelmen is the first Jewish Super Bowl MVP, in case that comes up. Very vaguely related, tonight Energy Se...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

Well, I just discovered on a VHS tape a game featuring Georgia Popplewell vs. Richard Rasmussen vs. champ Lena Nowak. The first thing on the tape, according to the label, is SNL with Jimmy Smits, followed by Letterman with Debra WInger and Soul Asylum. That's variously 1990 and 1993. Anyone got a s...

Made a top 100 finish in the Novelty Country Music 1D despite not being able to play any of the sound clips. I have always been deeply invested in novelty tunes of all genres.
Thank you for playing anyway. I knew it was going to play hard, but I didn't think it would go that hard. Ah, well.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

There's a guy at an office of my company in another city who was a 1-day champion in 1993 (games 2105 and 2106). He believes he has the DVDs of the games. What's the best method to get these games into the archive? 2106 would be an especially nice addition, since we have that one up as a skeleton r...

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I think it's down to about 30 games from S18 left to fill in. Tiny steps. My current game is the last incomplete game of that season, so we'll meet in the middle eventually. Oh those awesome Clue Crew clues though. The Clue Crew clues are always fun to guess the extension and when it's a .jpg to de...

Anyone know the split of M/F in the current LL roster? It seems like I'm only matched up against a female opponent 1 in 10 or so match days
"27.2% of all LL79 registrants report as female", per the Commish.
