Re: Fun with ABC's "The Chase" [Spoilers]

I was upset that Kristin didn't go for it when offered the $425,000. If a TOCer won't take this (and have a good chance of succeeding), who will? On top of that, she went for the lower offer and left ~$50k on the table. I've never seen anyone take the lower offer on the GSN version, though the $$ i...

Re: Learned League 87 -- Nov/Dec 2020

I knew Beijing was 'northern capital' and Nanjing was 'southern capital', so must be central (?), says I, but wait, in relation to other tribes; well, they're on the inside of a nice long wall: answer, behind the wall. Geez.

A well-crafted egg cream is a wondrous thing, but the only place you could get one here in the fourth corner is departed from the scene. Was happy to see tropic was accepted as an alternative for solstice.

It seems to me there have been a whole lot of pretty loosely pinned clues this season.

Mankiller here. I did not remember she was Cherokee--and for some reason thought she had a sister also involved in tribal politics.

Re: Online Quiz League USA - Demo Game featuring familiar J! faces

Hey all: I just indicated I would like to play in this as an individual, but in anyone would like to join me on a team, let me know! I just registered as an individual as well - would be glad to be part of an all-boardie team. I could be interested in this. I know of another, but I'll let that pers...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

Anyone else having a roller coaster of a season? Here's my tally of correct answers so far in LL85: MDs 1-5: 26 MDs 6-10: 18 MDs 11-15: 28 MDs 16-20: 11 And on MD21 I pull a 6-pack. I know, A Rundle problems, but... almost makes me wonder if Thorsten doesn't break up the question sets into groups o...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

It was pointed out that yesterday was one of the four toughest days in the history of LL, and it felt it. It is the rare and unsettling experience to read through the six questions and realize that I don’t know the answers to any. With some thought, I came up with reasonable guesses for the SEC tea...

alietr, Thorsten is looking for BWA searchers on a beta basis. Now is your opportunity to impose, er, explore, your sense of humor with the community at large.

For Whom the Bell Tolls is set during the Spanish Civil War, so couldn't be that. Have read both, so it was a short route to the answer.

There are only 3 prairie provinces, so middle Saskatchewan has to be one. If you consider you have to include the fat end of Yukon into the equation, the other has to be Manitoba, not Alberta.

Re: Thursday, March 26, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Once before, long ago, after a Mediterranean geography category was butchered, even with maps in the clues, I made a comment about the spectacle being a marker for typical American geographical ignorance. One of the contestants became defensive about it in this forum. So-- I mark it as a condemnatio...

Re: Learned League 84

I thought sure 'Gloria' had been covered by The Animals, so I thought the great Van Morrison, the great Stones, AND the great Eric Burdon (I maintain Eric Burdon is one of the most underrated rock vocalists of all time) had been dissed. Turns out only two of three, but that's still inexcusable. LOTS...

Re: Learned League 84

I was surprised so many people (47%) got Crossroads . I'd never even heard of that movie and I was actually watching movies in the mid-80s! :D I suppose there's the Robert Johnson angle, too, but blues history doesn't seem like something a lot of people would know. Thought for sure "derby" would be...
