Re: Poll on Boardies Covid-19 Impact

Haven't had it. I decided to check only "am still employed". My McDonald's job never wavered, one of the churches reopened last week, and the other is opening this week. I don't know anyone who's died of it, but I do know a couple people who've had it. I always wear a mask in public, and unfriended ...

Re: J! archive glossary question

I dunno about the others, but Stay Clam is often used currently, though often shortened to something like "I clammed" instead of "I stayed clam". I have no doubt that "clam" is in constant use. My issue was that the description linked to forum posts on the old Sony board that were deleted nine year...

Re: It Was a Long Time Coming

Back then I was an 18-year-old who wanted to get on J!

Now I'm a 33-year-old waiting to see if they liked me enough at an audition held a year ago.

Times have changed, and I feel old.

Still awesome news!

Can't say I've heard of Steve Winwood or the song associated with him. You play the organ, right? Steve Winwood is one of the greatest organists in rock - as well as being one of the best blue-eyed soul singers in rock, and a crackerjack guitarist too. Check out his classic organ and vocal parts on...

I have seen one of those, but never knew it was called a "multiplication table".
What. In. Heaven's. Name. did you think it was called???
I didn't think it had a name. I remember seeing one ONCE in third grade, and that was it.

I have seen one of those, but never knew it was called a "multiplication table". Ran Words & Phrases. Was 0/5 in Shakespeare, Madness of the King, and Playing the Villain. Outside of Me for $400 felt like negbait for "stud", and $1,200 was even BIGGER negbait for "aviator". Female author who died in...

Re: Thursday, June 11, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I don’t really like it either, but the rest of the show makes up for it. I'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. And Trout Fishing in America references a book by Richard Brautigan while I got St Elmo’s Fire from the Brian Eno song of the same name. Knew that, too. Also, anyone who knows t...

The Big Bang Theory is literally the only TV show I watch besides J! and sports. I find quantum physics fascinating.
And I find Sheldon Cooper's "lol, laugh at me, I don't know how being a human works" shtick infuriating and offensive.

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

It sure as hell didn't work on me. After 200 pages, the question remains ... What does? I have that question too. No matter what I try, I can't get out of my own way, and I still have severe memory leakage that causes even the most basic of stuff (what planet is biiggest, again?). No matter how har...

but the number 23 didn't ring a bell So you're obviously not Walter Sparrow. And I hope you're not "Topsy Kretts" either. 4/8: Didn't see a TOM in this one at all.
You seriously didn't think the word "finch", when used in a question about American authors, might have been placed there to tickle a response?

Any reason I should know what season National Hangover Day is? That clue seemed wide open. The clue said to think about it, implying that one probably wouldn't know this and could figure it out. The thought process consists of "Hangovers tend to occur the day after a night of heavy drinking; what h...

Steve's incessant sighing and eyerolling every time he had to pick a clue was incredibly annoying. It's only a rule of the game, stop treating it like it's SUCH A CHORSE to pick those damn clues... ==== Ran Food of the Gods.
