Not a single guess. Can't believe I missed Triscuit since I eat them all the time.

I knew Lanolin because of US Acres.

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

You seen the gif alietr sometimes posts called “asshole penguin”? If the titular penguin stuck out its wing a few seconds earlier, knocking down the other from the front instead of behind, they would have “clotheslined” the victim. (Think running around the yard straight into a clothesline. (And *p...

Re: Friday, January 19, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

It's All Fun & Games for $200 -- I couldn't figure out what they wanted. The clue seemed way too vague. Also don't know what "clotheslining" is. Yes, I got the Lake DD. Ran the Drums category. Blanked on the Uncle category though. They were all there except Uncle Henry, but I just couldn't pull any ...

Re: Thursday, January 18, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Had to close last night, only now watching. British cabinets have ministers? Never would've known that. I don't see why I have to know anything about the British cabinet either. Do Brits regularly know anything about ours? I recognized all the movie titles but none of the plots, so I was 0/5 there. ...

Re: Wednesday, January 17, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Kind of silly question but what was the musical instrument that Lee played? Clavinet. One of my favorite bands is NRBQ and they featured the instrument. I recognized both clavinet and Dobro. I know NRBQ entirely because former guitarist Al Anderson wrote a lot of country songs in the late 90s-early...

Re: Tuesday, January 16, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

"Presenter" didn't sound like it narrowed down to any Microsoft program over any other to me. Maybe it's the Mac user in me. Powerpoint has almost become a generic term for the type of presentation one does by using computerized slides. Again, probably one that just flew over my Macintosh-centric m...

Re: Wednesday, January 17, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Lee's genre of music sounds fun. How should I know what ocean Blue Point Oysters come from? That seemed very random. Ran the Galapagos category, and INXS was my only miss in Lineups. NHO "Lucifer" on FOX. Skunked "Is" Storm, which is rare for me in a word category. Lach Trash: schwa No guess on FJ!

Re: Tuesday, January 16, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Yay, we finally completed both boards! "Presenter" didn't sound like it narrowed down to any Microsoft program over any other to me. Maybe it's the Mac user in me. Should I do another poll of my own? If so, the Madoff clue is going in it. Probably nevus = mole too, because I can think of a lot of th...

What makes me mad is E-flat. I hate the chord and the key. And folk singers who capo ONE fret. Seriously, you can't sing one half step lower? End of rant and off-topic post.
There are way too many hymns that are in E-flat. Easier on the organ, at least.

Re: TPH's "Did you get this?" poll (potential weekly spoilers)

You proved otherwise on Wheel. You just don't have as good an aptitude for Jeopardy. But there's no shame in that. The people here have a much higher aptitude for Jeopardy than an overwhelming percentage of the population. All we ask is that you realize that, and keep that in mind when you post on ...

I HATE YOUNG SHELDON I HATE YOUNG SHELDON I HATE YOUNG SHELDON AND BIG BANG THEORY SUCKS TOO. I said "Clip" on 4 Letters for $200. Judges? I got the rest of the clues in that category. Why is it that I completely derp up the Caribbean every time? No matter how often I look at a map of it, I complete...

Re: TPH's "Did you get this?" poll (potential weekly spoilers)

So, TPH, now that you've got 87 responses to your poll, a statistically valid sample in my eyes, what did you learn? Do you feel that any of those questions was undervalued? Persephone is the only one with less than a 66% get rate, but is a $400 clue (and 54% isn't tragic) Yes, that I am a total du...

Re: Final Fleming Episode

That pitch thing drives me nuts. I have perfect pitch, so listening to some of the Beatles songs where they screw with the tape speed ("Rain", "Strawberry Fields Forever", etc.) throws me massively off balance.

Also, is it just me, or is the Final Jeopardy! music about a half-step lower than it normally was? I've heard someone say that the pitch did get a little lower on later Fleming episodes. I know I've seen other 70s and 80s game show episodes where the music would be slightly lower pitched. Most like...

Re: Final Fleming Episode

Jeopardy! 1964 for $10 is the kind of clue-writing that seems to have been more common on the Fleming era, but I've rarely if ever seen it on even older Trebek episodes. Also, is it just me, or is the Final Jeopardy! music about a half-step lower than it normally was? I've heard someone say that the...

TPH's "Did you get this?" poll (potential weekly spoilers)

So, in order to stop hogging Mark's poll, I decided I would start my own poll of what I consider undervalued/obscure/interesting clues throughout the week. Most of the time they may be my usual "that seemed tough for the top box", but I'm willing to put other curiosities in it (for instance, clues a...

Re: Friday, January 12, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Gilbert’s DD miss was very strange as he got the tougher of the two names with the 18th c. guy but could not pull the 20th c. guy with the well-known title staring right at him. I wonder if he had the same fail that I did? I thought they wanted two people responsible for "To a Mouse". ==== Most of ...
