Re: Tuesday, October 20, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Arterial was a terrible trap. It's almost as if they put the word "adjective" in the clue just so the writers could go "haw haw". A better clue would have been "Word that describes blood leaving the heart" - arterial doesn't only have to refer to the vessels themselves, so you could make it more pa...

Atomic mass and weight are not synonymous, I see that now. But where did chlorine come from?
But would the judges have accepted "atomic mass"? That was my answer, since "weight" is variable depending upon gravity, whereas "mass" is constant.

Also, would it be normal for miltary bases to have ovens? I know there are kitchen facilities but any image I have of military cooking from tv or movies never involves baking. First video I found, it's tough to immediately spot any ovens in this clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIGKiv1D_0Q The...

I was surprised Kevin received credit for his response on DJ29 SWEDEN LOWS--& HIGHS for $1600: Low: in a twist like one out of his "Millennium" mysteries, some fans think this author was murdered in 2004 https://youtu.be/LUI3CY8SZvM What do you hear him say? I guessed "Fast & the Curious". Not exactly a pun, I guess, but it seemed to go well with cats.
I thought I heard "Furriest", rather than "Furrious" and expected a judges' ruling that didn't come.

I have had a positive test and have had symptoms that lasted almost two weeks, mostly a recurrent fever, dizziness and weakness, and nausea, but no respiratory issues. I'm currently on the mend.

"Pork you pine" doesn't really work, since pine in that sense isn't a transitive verb. I liked the rest of the category, though!
I mentally added "for". It made me think of this Family Feud episode.

I expect we will be seeing all three of these contestants in the semi-finals. I could cheer for any of them. Maybe they will all be in separate games! Then we can cheer for all of them! OK, for the record, has there ever been a tournament final in which the three contestants met in the first round?...

I'm curious for those who learned the "sometimes w" rule, when did you learn it? I learned "sometimes y" but NOT "sometimes w" in 1971. James Buchanan Elementary School, probably 2nd grade, so 1959-1960. I also recall hearing “sometimes w” but I had forgotten about it until now. And I find the fact...

When I was a boy, the trope we learned (we would never have called it that!) was "...sometimes w and y." You know, as in brown or cow or drew or saw ...But we may have been using 19th C. McGuffey's Readers... https://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/when-is-w-a-vowel I'm with you ...

Nikki and Jane were quite the contrast for how they played. Jane reminded me of Alan Carver. https://millionaire.fandom.com/wiki/Alan_Carver Should mention that Jane's in studio help was Louis Vertel. TIL that L. Vertel works for Jimmy Kimmel as a writer. And Anthony Anderson's studio helper was Jo...

Re: Fun with GSN's "Master Minds"

The episode I saw yesterday was a rough one for both the contestant (Jonathan) and the Master Mind (Ken). Both of them missed three of the five questions in the final round; Ken only won because Jonathan chose the wrong isotope of carbon (16 instead of 14). Questions missed included the oldest conti...
