Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

Lucked into daiquiri, no idea it was a beach.

I have a 1.000 DE after 10 matches because I only have 4 missed answers against me AMA

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

You're right. of course. I'm sure we all learned this method in school, but that doesn't make it "the way" to multiply two numbers. An equally valid way would be to lay out 36 rows each containing 36 grains of rice and then counting the total number of rice grains. This method is probably more erro...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

The final question at trivia Wednesday night was "Who is the first Nobel Peace Prize winner that was born in the US?" I was pretty sure that Teddy Roosevelt had won it and my teammates knew the answer but don't know if I could have pulled many between that winner and MLK, so when I got home Wednesda...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

How does 42% of the league miss "self-portraits"? I couldn't think of anything else this could possibly be. My career Art get rate is .309, yet this seemed like one of the easiest questions of the season, I thought it would play 90% or so. Anyone who missed it care to share what you guessed? My fir...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

Look, maybe it's edgy, but I thought CHUD was a pretty good BWA attempt for the initialism yesterday.

Nice job, Vermonter. I'm projected for 145 CAA right now, so this is going great.

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

Averaging 5 questions right per day. 1 tie and 3 losses. I'm in 25th place in relegation zone. Congrats to FrumkinJ who beat me yesterday (I gave 2 points to Atalanta, he gave 3 and we both missed it. Hermes just seemed right) #arundleproblems Thanks! Lucky defense. I feel your pain, your 5 lowered...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

Always nice to drink beers with alietr. I'm on pace for 150 CAA. Mostly I'm proud of my defense that is keeping me from giving up 10 or more points per day.

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

2 straight beers is great, but when the second one is a 9(6)-0(F) win, it makes me glad I didn't spend too much time working on the questions.

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

The rare game where cmp and I both defended each other the exact same way and got the exact same questions right. Getting 3 right 3 days in a row and ending up 1-1-1 in A is unexpected, though the win was by forfeit. I am still all warm and fuzzy inside pulling a tie with only three correct in A Ma...

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

I got credit for Feld, which was unexpected. 1st place, baby. Vegas-bound as long as the next 24 MDs don't count.

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

Except I wouldn't have known Orozco or Siquieros, so it was still a choice between Rivera and Kahlo anyway. I remembered about her being in the accident, so I figured it had to be her. Same. The final standings indicate that we think alike in many areas. That is crazy how close many of our stats ar...

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

Had the honor of playing jfrumkin on the last day of LL70, and it was one of those nightmare defensive experiences. Good at sports, but I think he prefers football (and who knows with photos); lower-ranked on geography and math, but Paris-Istanbul and scalene are on the easy side; female beauty pro...

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

I'm all in for any question that references Ta-Nehisi Coates and Lin-Manuel Miranda. This actually came up after I submitted yesterday: Coates had an event in DC on Tuesday night where he mainly talked about his McArthur grant and what he did with it. Someone offered me a ticket and I wasn't able t...

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

I put "Hershey World" which was marked wrong. I should have done what my fiancee did and just put "Hershey", which was marked as correct. I really don't get a lot Thorsten's scoring decisions. The park's name is Hersheypark, so I can see allowing Hershey Park on the "sounds-like" rule. Anything els...

Yeah, and I remember them releasing albums much later than that.

Re: LL70: For the LLamas

I was at Chocolate World last month and live 2 hours from Hershey. Love ones like that. Overall, that is in the conversation for quickest beer ever for me. 5 instagets/insta-educated-guesses and took me about 20 seconds on the band to think of southern hemisphere and go: "Anything from South America...
