Indeed, though let it be said, demo, that I'm flattered to be mistaken for you at any time. It must be the common first name that does it.

Re: Think Different 139 - The Golden State

California is not only the most populous state in the Union, but also the wealthiest and one of the largest. It is also, of course, home to Jeopardy! 8-) What follows are some questions inspired by the Golden State. 1. History Early Spanish explorers and missionaries traveled northward from Baja Cal...

Re: Think Different 139 - The Golden State

Change in deadline: Because I'm a space cadet, I forgot that I'll be out of town 10/8-11, so submissions can occur until midnight EDT on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Reveal will begin on Wednesday. Sorry for the change. Clarifications: Q9. Steinbeck wrote several novellas that are distinguished from his novel...

Think Different 139 - The Golden State

Welcome to Think Different 139! The object of this game is to provide answers to the questions that no one else does. Re: Friday, September 30, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion(SPOIL

I guess that I will be the person to point out that Chris and Rob both made the correct wagers for their positions, a rarity as we know. Perhaps it should come as no surprise after Rob's gutsy (and canny) wagering in DJ, but it was gratifying to see him wager intelligently in FJ.

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge -- Medal Ceremony & Closing Cred

Many thanks again for putting this on, DoT. SHC was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for me, and my first ever (and likely last) trip to the TOC was just icing on the cake. Three cheers, sir!

Re: Thursday, September 29, 2011 Game Recap & Disc (SPOILERS

Another super easy FJ. The word Asian threw me for a second because Vietnam isn't the first country that comes to mind when I hear Asia, but the year and the fact the answer referenced bombing made it easy to nail down. It was possible to overthink FJ, as I briefly detoured through the Middle East,...

Wow, yeah, my sympathies, Serge. You met with a buzzsaw in the form of Chris. Excellent buzzer speed combined with some very good low row gets. Had he not missed the Bambi DD (which, admittedly, I did too) his score would have been even more outrageous than it was. It'll be interesting to see how fa...

Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge -- The Suggestion Box

Now that's it's all over but for the tallying, I'll offer a suggestion for future SHCs: how about a little more run-up to the TOC, with the Peanut Gallery voting on seedings? I'm not advocating any sort of elimination in the TOC, but just see how people size up the competition with the added bonus o...

Great game, Sergio! Trivially easy FJ to me, but great game nonetheless. Retroactive good luck tomorrow.

p.s. Has anyone mentioned Slam's Rule? ;)

Re: SHC TOC -- Peanut Gallery [SPOILERS]

I need help with a ruling. SHC TOC Day 1: The clue reads, "This agency of the Defense Department provides low-cost food and household goods to military members on post." I was going for "(Defense) Commissary (Agency)." For those of you with more recent military experience than mine (my Dad retired ...

Re: The one who won who wasn't there

So how did WATSON do in the ToC? Was he upset to be uprooted from his New York home? Was he intimidated by all these superchamps whose games hadn't been entered in his memory yet? Did he freak out on finally seeing a Clue Crew clue or being asked an audio Daily Double? Inquiring minds want to know....

Re: new TD?

IIRC, UniquePerspective was keeping up the queue (more or less) for a while, but he's been absent for a bit. If we do want a formal queue again, I can maintain it while he's gone, possibly. (I promise I'd be much better at it than SHC scoring, since it's much less intensive and I have a habit of vi...

Re: Tuesday, September 27, 2011 Game Recap & Disc (SPOILERS)

Wow, tough luck Suze (and Joe) having to go up against a player who locked in on the buzzer. It was pretty evident that you both were being consistently beat to the buzzer, but you were great sports and never lost your cool. I can only hope to emulate such poise given the chance (and need). Great go...

Was the first post about plurastrophes? No, but when someone called the OP on it, she responded, "You guy's are so mean." Anyone see the latest Mercedes ad where John Hamm intones, "... and less doors"? Maybe he means less Doors; too lowbrow, too American, too oldies for Mercedes. Yesterday at the ...
