For number 5, do you want just summer olympics, winter olympics or a combination of both?
Name one city that hosted or will host in that time frame. Season doesn’t matter
Sorry, but:
Show
doesn't that time frame include 9 different Olympics / host cities?

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

I think there is only an excess of candidates from the candidates' point of view. As far as the show's concerned, there's no such thing.

Re: The Official TPH Education Thread (POTENTIAL GAME DAY SPOILERS)

Is it possible that, by playing the board bottom-up, the players' (and our) perception of difficulty/obviousness of answers gets skewed? I remember thinking that, if that had been the first clue in that category, and I was more dialed in to 'easy answer', I would've keyed on cigarettes more quickly....

Are we allowed to discuss the details of the audition process? The process for this past Tuesday was slightly different from my previous audition in 2016.

Re: Jeopardy 2019 North American Audition Tour

I have seen them send people home after the paper test + before the mock games. Mind you, this was many, many years ago. "many years ago" = "before the age of the online test". Yes, that's right. It was a Brain Bus event, and I think they started with a short (5-question?) test, then put people in ...

Re: 2019 Current Events Study Guide

Because Secretariat is also a Triple Crown winner, asking for the holder of the Kentucky Derby record time doesn't produce a new name, but maybe in a TOC they'd ask for the name of the previous record holder: Northern Dancer . FTR, Secretariat holds the record for the fastest time in all three Trip...

Other than Aristides and Triple Crown winners, do you think there is any other Derby winner one would have to know on Jeopardy?
Not a Derby winner, but I've always thought it was worth remembering Alydar, so by extension maybe Alysheba?

Re: Adult Online Test: Apr 9, 10, 11

I know that getting an audition is a crap shoot, but I believe there are two different games going on. I try to remember that while Jeopardy! the show is a competition, Jeopardy! the contestant search is a casting process for a TV show. In my limited experience with quiz shows, it is an exceptional...

Based on this and the Palm Beach test, tonight/tomorrow test takers might want to brush up on Donald Glover's body of work. And heraldry.

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), April 9, 2019

I ended up with 49 (Heinlein for PKD), but I think I lucked out on some 50/50 calls and pulled a couple of answers with very little time to spare. Wasn't too confident on Columbia, Bolshoi, O Henry, or China. Pulled Rossini after erasing Puccini, stalled on Pavarotti for about 10 seconds, and had to...

Re: Online Test Recap & Discussion (Eastern), March 6, 2018

What's the verdict on 'ours' instead of 'our'? Doesn't technically match the clue as "a period of time" points to singular rather than plural but on the show they generally don't neg for a singular/plural disagreement unless the category is something like "4 letter words" or "ends with -ur", so you...

I hope they accept Browning only.
In the context of having given her husband's first name, they should. Still, I put Barrett Browning.
Likely to be a BMS on the show, but I think the online test questions are scored somewhat generously.

Was anybody else thrown off by the use of 'title character subject' in the John Nash clue? Maybe I misread the clue.
