Re: Monday, June 26, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I am so extremely happy for you Brandon!! I only wish I was in the country this week to watch you. I will have to live vicariously through JBoard every morning when I wake up.

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

Affogato with cmp146 at lunch today I immediately googled photos of Affogato after seeing the answer yesterday. And now, I MUST HAVE IT. Mission accomplished!! in Florence tonight. It was the Affogato Nero, so vanilla ice cream dusted with bitter chocolate powder and drowned in black coffee. My wif...

Re: Learned League 73 - Official Thread

The "covfefe" question proves that Thorsten does have a sense of humor. I managed a strange 6(5)-6(4) tie thanks to my opponent missing "covfefe" (we both missed lumpia). At least I assigned that question one point rather than zero or I would have lost! I assigned "Jump" the zero. I ended up in a s...

Re: Learned League 73 - Official Thread

May I ask what led you to suspect this person had been cheating? Ridiculously good scores. Like 0.933 qpct. No one (even Bahnaman, Rutter or Perry) is that good. It was only a suspicion, but the lower-than-an-avg Llama scores when cheating is impossible made me pretty certain. Not just "lower than ...

Re: Learned League 73 - Official Thread

Nice match yesterday Blue Lion. But why couldn't you have just gotten NATO correct and not screwed up my DE even more than it is? :D

Re: Learned League 73 - Official Thread

There has never been an easier LL question for me. I could sort those goons by PIMs acquired. McSorley is human garbage. Tiger Williams used to be our small town's floor hockey league sponsor, and he'd come up to Haida Gwaii once a year to play a game with us when he was still active with the Vanco...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

Given Thorsten's usual leniency, I was surprised to wake up this morning and find that "erotic" was not accepted for question #6. I almost answered with "eros" but wasn't sure if that was precisely correct because it was also the name of the god.

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

I often shake my head when LLamas admit to having made RTFQ errors. You are under virtually no time pressure. There are only six questions per day. They are not overwhelmingly complex. And then I repeatedly read Match Game as Hollywood Squares . An obvious CNR question becomes an obvious Paul Lynde...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

I also said nocturne and figured there was a good chance that would accepted. I don't recall ever hearing the term "fiat money." What a strange term. I had "legal tender" and thought it was a good guess when I submitted it. I thought there would have been enough of a distinction between serenade ("...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

I've had the best four-day stretch of my LL career. It certainly helps that I've had more time to think about the questions this week. I requested advance access to Day 1 since that was the day of my final 100-question written NRC exam (and seven of the most stressful hours of my life). It paid off ...

Re: Learned League 72 - Official Thread

I'm half excited/half cringing at my debut in an A rundle. My trivia brain has slowly been atrophying over the past year and a half while I have been training to become a licensed Senior Reactor Operator. The final written exam coincides with opening day of LL72. After that, I will drink heavily fro...

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

I often make the mistake of changing an answer from the right one to the wrong one, and my resulting skittishness about changing answers bit me in the backside yesterday. I had always heard that rayon was the first synthetic fabric. A few days ago, as my wife and I were looking at our 8-year-old's ...

Re: LL71: For The LLamas

This season, I am the Kansas City Chiefs of Horizon B. I have a middling offense, outstanding defense, and prodigious luck. Like the Chiefs, I am currently #2 in my league. Also like the Chiefs, I will probably fold like a cheap card table against superior competition. In Match Days 20-23 I am to fa...

Re: Monday, November 28, 2016 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Had I not visited St. Petersburg and specifically the former summer palace that Peter built (Peterhof), I certainly would have guessed France. But as it were, it was a fortunate instaget. Was this fact explained there or are you just saying you noted the similarity between the Russian and Dutch fla...
