Re: Wednesday, March 19, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I thought Beyonce was enough of an "oldcomer" to work out in FJ, plus she actually had an album in 2013, I think, and I don't think Madonna did. But I could obviously be wrong on both those last two counts. And, I probably won't ever be on the show, but I'm still sad that I lost my chance to ever id...

What's the best-played single game of Trebek era?

I was watching Larissa Kelly's Crackle game today. (I'm pretty sure I saw the game on its air date, but I will narrate as if I haven't necessarily.) Mary Kay Schmidt was a one-time champion, with a healthy $22,400 in her win. After the first round, I quickly counted the scores, and they added up to ...

That is definitely the universe where I want to live.
I would want to go against a plumber and an architect, both with a PhD. :-)

Easy FJ for me sort of made up for a horrendous DJ.

Today's champion had an interesting strategy--hunt DDs (at least in DJ), but wager conservatively.

Massive choke here on the Final. I might have written "What is the bay between India and China?" as my response :P

When will we have another repeat champion? Thanks to the tournaments and Arthur, he's been the only one since January.

Re: Friday, March 14, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Anyone else feel like the difference in difficulty between the first 60 clues and the last one was huge? Best I could do in FJ was Spencer Tracy, thinking maybe the Nazi hunter was a hint somehow instead of just a weird fact. Find out now he died in '67. I thought Matt should have gone for it all on...

Re: Thursday, March 13, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Concerning the Bible Art question about the huge bunch of grapes the spies brought back in Numbers... I answered 'the land of milk and honey'. It seems to match the way it was phrased at least as well as 'the Promised Land'. Any opinions on whether it would be ruled correct as well? That's actually...

Re: Pet Intellectual Peeves

I feel like the first two posts is all this thread really needed.

And I have two pet peeves: when someone interrupts a conversation they haven't been following with an irrelevant comment, and hypocrisy.

Re: Thursday, March 13, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Diana seemed to go halfway on the Arthur strategy, but I'm not sure why she bailed on Biblical Art with the DD still to come by picking 400 over 2000. Maybe she wasn't confident in the category? And everybody seemed to forget the category on the Last Supper clue. I happened to get FJ pretty easily t...

Re: Wednesday, March 12, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

A $400 Daily Double? When it's that high in the first round, max possible wager has to be the way to go. And I know they wouldn't and couldn't write a game to adjust to a player, but... Charles I was my immediate FJ guess, which almost as immediately seemed dumb, especially as they specified last ma...

Re: Tuesday, March 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Arthur: Did you consider going for 300K on the nose with the wiggle room available and a category that should not have been frightening? Obviously I can't actually answer this for him, but considering he did not bet a few shows ago to hit $60,000 (which he could easily have done safely) suggests to...

Re: Tuesday, March 11, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Insta-get FJ was a welcome change. If they had dropped the year from the clue, that would have made it more of a challenge--one I think I could conceivably have met, but who knows. As someone who got Monroe last Monday, not knowing the $1600 and missing the $2000 (I wanted to say Barkley, but I forc...

Voyeurism is a funny answer, but at least that is a theme of a Hitchcock film... This is my first post, I just watch the game, never gotten past the online test, let me know if I'm doing anything gauche, etc. Welcome aboard! No worries, there are people who post here on a gauche-regular basis and th...

Re: Monday, March 10, 2014 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

This is my first post, I just watch the game, never gotten past the online test, let me know if I'm doing anything gauche, etc. This was an interesting show today. Was Arthur the only one to respond correctly before the pre-interview ads? Good on him getting a runaway with -$4,200 on DD's. "Newlywed...
