Re: Summer Hiatus Challenge 2018--Round 1 Instant Replay (SPOILERS)

I gave a response of "Ms. Frisby" because I couldn't remember if she was Miss, Ms., or Mrs. "Brisby" would have to be accepted, even if Ms. might not be.

Re: Friday, July 20, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The new champ is an A-rundler who's done well in the last two WQC's (I remember his name from the sign-in sheet at One Star Bar last year). I've played him twice in minileagues and lost both times. In addition to Scorigami, he also founded the site gameshowtheory.com, which hasn't been updated in a ...

Re: LearnedLeague 77 - Official Thread

I got my 1,000th correct answer yesterday, but it didn't pay huge dividends, because I lost 7(5)-6(4). I will be returning to B next season, hopefully in Horizon and not one of the new leagues like Yanny.

Re: Monday, July 2, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Keely Smith/Louis Prima seems like a very obscure pairing unless you're over 70 years old. Curious if anyone here got this right. (raises hand) He's a big deal where I'm from, because we have a large Italian-American population and one of his ex-wives used to live in the county until her death. Our...

Monday's should have been the easiest, but I started by thinking of European islands instead of states. Crete? No. Sicily? No. Corsica? No.

Re: Tuesday, June 26, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I don't recall hearing, "Looks like someone could have a big payday today," but it didn't matter. Ouch. I got FJ right away, but UAE (for Abu Dhabi) was a good guess that I never considered. It's a much, much wealthier country than Bangladesh, and it's in Asia. That makes up for missing yesterday's ...

Re: Sad Legal News About a Former Champion

What Adrian College did is the security equivalent of leaving a front door not just unlocked but completely wide open. This. If everyone knew that there was a college-wide password reset, very likely dozens (if not hundreds) of people took advantage of it to get into other people's accounts. Were t...

2018 World Quizzing Championships

Results are coming in very slowly on the Quest website. I took it in New Jersey with SterlacciJ and several future contestants (i.e., in the pool). The second half was much easier than the first! I did about the same (low 80's) as last year.

Re: LearnedLeague 77 - Official Thread

I began the season with my first 0(0) in almost two years. Totally forgot there was a female Colonel Sanders. At least my 0-fer was against tjconn, who's beaten me more times than anyone else. And I still have perfect defense...

I had the same first (and only guess) as our flightless friend. Of course, if that had been the correct response, they'd want first and last name.
Anyone else say "Senate Hill" instead of Parliament Hill for the first DD?

Re: Wednesday, May 9, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Fortescue, NJ has to be one of the smallest towns a contestant (or champ) has hailed from. It's on the Delaware Bay and is only accessible by one road. Everyone who posted on Twitter that the episode was rigged ended up issuing an embarrassing retraction. AT should've reminded the audience that cate...

Re: Thursday, May 3, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I am shocked, shocked that nobody got FJ. That film has been referenced in dozens of clues on the show over the years. I could see someone guessing a more recent nonexistent film like Baghdad or Kabul (or even Aleppo.)

Re: Friday, April 20, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

This was a really well-played tournament, from start to finish. It was also the easiest college tournament I've ever seen, and this was the easiest final game of a tournament I've ever seen. 51 R is a new personal record, although I missed all the DD's. I would already rate Dhruv a Silver for the ne...

Re: ODD-TITLED TOP 40 HITS [SPOILERS] 3/30 category

Only one I got was the $1600. I've heard the Tyrone Shoelaces song because "Chauncey Gardner" watched the music video in his limo in Being There, but I forgot who did it.

Re: Wednesday, March 28, 2018 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

I instantly guessed Aladdin for Final. It's a 1992 film that turned into a musical... but it turns out those songs aren't in either. This game was much harder than last night's, at least for me. I had more correct responses in the first round of last night's game (27) than in tonight's whole game (2...

Re: LearnedLeague 76 - Official Thread

Another Pac-12 here. And considering I missed "quadrille" earlier after trying to come up with words for "four," it was nice to instaget Quadrophenia . I finished in the top 20% but my score didn't count for Horizon, which came in 35th. I've entered all eleven MSC's, and this is only the second time...
