Is pronouncing IRA like the name Ira and not letter-by-letter common? I was surprised when that turned out to be about Investment Retirement Accounts and not about people named Ira .

And while I'm here, another Macbeth guess.

Yes. I’d say it runs about 50/50 in casual conversation.

Anybody NOT get the lach trash on which Shakespeare play has the St. Crispin's Day speech? knew it but clammed. He-brides? :o Oh... I rather liked that. It's not the first time I've felt like someone said a word aloud for the first time on Jeopardy. I always think it's pretty great. Canadian Perfor...

* Looking it up, I see that The Police also had a guitarist named Andy Summers. So there were TWO correct wrong responses. I now recognize the clue's genius and withdraw my objection. Yes, this was an ingenius clue, but difficult. I know Sting's real name, but expecting us to weed out Summers and S...

I got this FJ right on a WAG that I had no confidence in. Just something to consider if writing nothing seems like the best option The answer finally bubbled up in the last moment for me. Not in enough time to write it. I was walking through presidential movies by president, not by release date. Oo...

Justin got away with a couple of odd pronunciations, like "LaFont" for L'Enfant and "Mount Blanc"; it caught up with him on "Alpennines." I liked the ZERO SUM GAME category. The mental challenge of having to avoid a particular answer is enjoyable enough to me that I wish J! would pull out that gimm...

Re: Thursday, October 19, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

"Adhesive bandage is a generic term; Band-Aid is this type of name, or a "name" type of this." Would proprietary eponym have been accepted? It doesn't have "name" exactly in the phrase, but otherwise fits the clue. Not sure if "name" in quotes would exclude it from being correct. Does anybody else ...

My partner kept talking about the surname snafu during the show. We might need to have a discussion about how little I care about things like that while the game is rolling.

I couldn't believe Final was a wash. Men. Feh. I could recite the whole thing by rote. Dads read books to kids too you know. I do know. But I just watched three men basically stand and stare, and a number of men here have also said that had no clue, so... I'm not sure why this turned into a slam on...

English wasn't one of the five languages that my parents read me "Goodnight, Moon" in when I was little, and until recently, I thought that the Hebrew version was the original book.

Re: Wednesday, June 28, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I would have missed the Nighthawks question by answering Nighthawks at the Diner (as I am familiar with the Tom Waits album). I didn't know the shorter name was that of the painting. FJ was an instaget and I'm shocked only one contestant got it. My partner said "Nighthawks at the Diner" and I gave ...
