Re: Tuesday, March 7, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'm kinda' disappointed in Alex not expanding on why they reconvened in 1789. Seems like he usually does with that kind of clue. Dates without any context aren't all that interesting. Could've at least mentioned the French Revolution. I was honestly a little surprised at the lack of explanation mys...

Re: Monday, March 6, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Well, I'm sorry if this makes me 'oh, one of those [/u] people', but Slovakia or Slovenia didn't come to me in thirty seconds (and believe me, if one did, the other would have immediately followed), and in turn I can certainly believe that only one contestant got it. Again, with feeling, it's not so...

Re: Friday, March 3, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Took me a couple of seconds on FJ, but I nailed it when I put knight and physician together along with the time period. As quite the Sherlockian, that would have been a most appalling miss.

Ran 60's Slang, natch. :ugeek:

Re: Thursday, March 2, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

For FJ, I was mostly surprised that there were two questions in one week about landmarks in Maryland. I got McHenry based on it being the only name associated with a Maryland landmark I could think of that would have been completed by 1803. Thee and me...I couldn't help but let out a 'Really? TWO F...

Instaget FJ here too...Jimmy Stewart plus Italian immigrant was/is an automatic for Frank Capra. Always nice to nail an Oscar FJ every once in awhile.

Count me among those who ran Color That Flag, as well as Book Title Characters.

Re: Tuesday, February 28, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

For the musically inclined: were those album covers easy? I shocked myself getting 4/5 in that category. Well, I not only ran the Album Covers category, but also instagot (I.E. answered before Alex was even through reading) all five of them...so I, for one, certainly and apparently think they were/...

Here's what I knew: The Tibetan paradise in Lost Horizon is called Shangri-La. As did I, and as every sci-fi/fantasy/even mythology fan worth their snuff should know. But quite unfortunately, that's where it began and ended for me...everything else about Camp David's namesake and origin is big time...

Instagot FJ...17th century German astronomer? Absolute slam dunk, with or without astronomers being on my wheelhouse list.

I actually was super impressed by that get. ICP hasn't been relevant in a long time (if you can say they ever were). Yes, but I think the Juggalo gatherings have gotten a fair amount of attention in the last couple years due to their...ahem...rather interesting attendees. At this point I'm sure the...

Re: Thursday, February 23, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

As a theatre fan, Shakespeare should be a better category for me than it tends to be...but I certainly wouldn't consider it my worst. But not tonight...I went with Macbeth, and really drew him out of my proverbial hat also containing King Lear and Hamlet. Richard III never occurred to me, d'oh! *gen...

Nope...made that mistake too, and it's one of those titles that has often been a bugaboo for me and I need to finally buckle down and remember properly.

Re: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

This is close to a YEKIOYD, because even if you knew AJ was a tailor, you also had to know he wasn't the Veep both cycles. Went with 1860 for FJ. Very surprised none of the contestants recognized Lincoln from rail splitter. I, too, went with 1860. Didn't know Andrew Johnson was tailor. This FJ ende...

I knew I was in trouble in the rap category when I saw Weezy and my only thought was about Louise Jefferson. LOL...that was so the one rap clue I should have gotten because I remembered they had fun with Lil Wayne's nickname in what was EASILY my favorite commercial during last year's Super Bowl .*...

Re: Your Screenname: What inspired it?

Why 'Maven'? 1. It is a word I have always liked. 2. Its definition is essentially someone who regards him/herself knowledgeable and a connoisseur. And I certainly fall into both categories. 3. It is a word very heavily bandied about in many a jazz, fashion, and theatre circle...all three of which i...

Video games. Ugh. Why do we care? One's 'Ugh. Why should I care?' is another's wheelhouse...and one I would have ran if it weren't for Overwatch (fell for the graphics reminding me of Splatoon , despite the lack of paintballs and splotches). FJ's World Politics category briefly scared me, but I the...

Re: Fun with GSN's "Divided"

Why do so many of these shows put people on that are clearly not Jeopardy! material? To make the TV audience feel better about themselves when playing at home. Also, it introduces more conflict and makes for better TV. One would think so, but then why is Jeopardy!, one that has really smart contest...
