Re: Tuesday, October 29, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

you got trent reznor? very weird seeing i didn't think you knew anything about music apart from country and western music You must now listen to 10 hours of Willie, Waylon, and Merle as penance for your sin of calling it "country and western". I honestly thought that no one still said that unironic...

Looks like I was the only one to guess Diana Ross. And if anyone says "But she's not an actress", well, neither is BS ! :P
Nope, she was my (uncomfortable) guess as well.

the 10,000 dollar banknote of this asian country is the most valuable banknote currently issued in the world brunei Need to pin the definition of valuable. Zimbabwe has a $100 trillion note Taking advantage of that we could turn the clue around: This country currently prints the largest-denominated...

Re: Tuesday, October 22, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I didn't consider Cher but the other singer that I thought about for a moment was Diana Ross, who also started her recording career about the same time. I don't think she had 30 top 10 albums though, even if you considered her brief career with the Supremes. She has also only done a small number of...

Roughly 58% of one-day champs lose their second game.
The mathematician in me has to point out that technically speaking and by definition, 100% of one-day champs lose their second game.

But yeah, we know what you mean.

Re: Friday, October 11, 2019 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

What I know about American Playwrights would fit in a thimble. I was hoping it was one of those categories with a clue that was only tangentially related, such as "This american playwright is much more widely known as the current quarterback for the New England Patriots". Given that, the two names t...

Hit on Simon right away but then Peter Gabriel popped into my head for "Biko". A quick loop back to "American" in the clue cemented my initial guess.

Hit on Dust Bowl immediately but as others also mentioned, I associate that more with an event than a region. I went with Tornado Alley and for a brief time found myself quite smug for avoiding the negbait...

Fantastic clue!

That said, I'd rather the category was Clothing instead of Fashion

For the Asclepius/Caduceus question, I said "Who is Mercury?" instead of "Hermes" - what's your ruling?

Completely failed to pick up on the opera hint in the clue. Eventually settled (uneasily) on the Sears Tower after considering WTC, Space Needle in Seattle (1962), CN Tower in Toronto (1976) and whatever that tall building in Dubai is called (2009).

Not sure if I could've spelled Kilauea correctly in the 30 seconds; I may have resorted to phonetic spelling... "Kill away, uhhh..." would have been acceptable. Started with Old Faithful then realized the importance of the Pele angle. Came up with the right response but as mentioned a few times in ...

Re: Pavlov revival

alot I applaud your effort but think you may be a little too generous in your interpretation of Pavlov in this context. I can't say I ever heard of "Dulce et Ducorem Est" and don't have any reason for it to trigger a Pavlovian reaction. Should I know who wrote it? Maybe. Should I really drill it in...

A couple more made-ups: GEOGRAPHY Of the world's 100 most populous countries, it has the highest population density. What is Bangladesh?
