Re: Monday, June 26, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Fell for the obvious negbait on "The Oregon Trail". Like come on, how were they not expecting someone to go for that? Didn't the clue say something about ending in Abilene, Kansas? (I would check myself, but already deleted episode.) Presuming one knows that the Oregon Trail went to ... well, Orego...

Congratulations on the win over two worthy competitors, Brandon!

Nice job staying focused and disciplined despite being behind and pulling off the win perfectly with a sole solve and excellent wager!

Looking forward to seeing you play again tomorrow, champ! :D

Re: Tuesday, June 20, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

When I was a little kid, our next-door neighbors were the Zimmermans. I don't remember them particularly well (they moved away when I was maybe 8 or 9), but I do remember my little brother used to play with their son, Seth. When I was older, my parents told me who they were (Bob Dylan's brother and ...

Re: Retirement

Congratulations, Ilene! It's nice to have options in life, and it sounds like you are making a good choice from the options you have. I suspect that you have the intellect and interest to find plenty of ways to fill your new free time. After my dad had been retired for a few years, he said, "I don't...

Re: Millionaire 2016-17 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

No amount of screaming at the TV helped you, Julie, I'm sorry to say. Well, thanks for trying anyway. :D As I'm sure you know by now, The Honeymooners is well known for how few episodes were produced given the legacy it left. As a matter of fact, I was told that particular tidbit on my way off the ...

Re: Millionaire 2016-17 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I was wondering if perchance some kind and gracious JBoarder might be able to record tomorrow's episode of Millionaire for me. Because maybe I just like to have archival-quality recordings of total strangers' appearances on Millionaire, that's why! Or something. ;) I gave it my best shot: https://d...

If it helps .... I've learned to keep them straight using The Rule of the Single Z:

copper + tin = bronZe

copper + Zinc = brass

Re: Cindy Stowell

Someone posted a link on the J Facebook page to an article that said Maggie had a copy of her match(es) sent to her so she did get to see herself on the show before she died. Oh, I am so happy to hear that. I'm sure it meant so much to her. The tiniest positive in what is otherwise a very sad and s...

I may not have gotten her question, either, before last week's FJ.

This. I would have known two (since I knew of Clinton and Albright for the FJ!), but I, like Celeste, forgot about Rice, and was only reminded about her from the post-FJ! discussion here.

46/50 from the transcript, for fun. (Thanks to all who've posted questions, answers, and videos!) Misses: Elizabeth for James I (had a nagging feeling about it for the rest of the test) "That Bass" for "All About That Bass" (ugh) St. Louis for Chicago (knew it wasn't right) Hell's Kitchen for Top Ch...

Lyre for lute. For the umpteenth time.

I saw the Astro Boy discussion, but it didn't help me with the LL question: I don't think the word manga was mentioned, so I was missing at least one critical link.

Re: Millionaire 2016-17 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

Would have went with "index finger" on Josh's last question, but it's a nasty one, and "eye" also makes excellent logical sense. (The other two did not) I think he could have saved lifelines on "-cillin" and How Stella Got Her Groove Back , but it's unclear whether that would have been enough on th...

Re: Millionaire 2016-17 Season Discussion [SPOILERS]

I would have chosen hypodermic needle. At first I was thinking about brick because that was one of two choices where you beat someone with it. Then I remembered Clue has a candlestick and a lead pipe. I went with needle because you don't kill someone with that, but with the poison you'd put inside ...
