Re: TD 445 - Prime Time [Q1-Q5 revealed]

WTF???
Is this opposite day? FIVE singletons when I had to choose two obvious ones because I knew no other choices? (One song, one character)
A string of wrong answers awaits  . I will soon join my usual cellar mates. Catch you later, AFRET

Re: Monday, May 18, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I was ambushed by this as a regular game, expecting the teachers today. I was looking forward to a surreal episode with no audience, but the producers took the safe route. Jesse has the distinction of being the only (?) player to know the different vibe from playing in front of a live audience and n...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

Private Rundles have to be set up before Rundle placements are made. Final Registration Deadline was May 13, that cutoff applies to PR as well, I believe. Once you see your Rundle assignment, it is too late. Thanks for the dope slap.   Big rookie mistake by me. I was waiting for ...

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

Let's try and get more than myself and the 12 foot boy in the JV (C,D,E rundlers) JBoardie private rundle this season...assuming the 12-footer sets it up! It will definitely be set up and you have just given it a name! The original "B" team was not meant to be aspirational, and JV is pitch perfect ...

Re: Learned League 84

So, if anyone wants a good simulation of doing a PhD candidacy exam for which you are underprepared, please do the psychology and behavioral science minileague! There, now you don't have to go to grad school! I thought I'd have a go at a squishy science and maybe learn something about stamp collect...

Re: Final Jeopardy! Clues

BILLBOARD #1 SONGS This 1980 song features the singer running long acrylic fingernails across each other to simulate the sound of a typewriter. What is 9 to 5 ? Great clue! Dolly is amazing. I wonder how millennials will fare with it. It was an interesting WECIB clue for me. It seems perfect for th...

Re: FJ! for the 5/4/20 week

 Hooray! Box of Glory!! But my avatar and screen name suggest a passing familiarity with the sport :). I sure didn't see the original airing and already commented on how FAST everybody played. I don't even know what has aired on the other days, but am not interested in any Jeopardy James re...

Re: Learned League 84

I've been meaning to look this up and share it for the benefit of boardies that don't do LL but will read this thread: On March 1, (MD9) we had the following question: An audio-visual cable and accessories manufacturing company received a bit of bad news on February 11, 2020, due to an official anno...

Re: Monday, May 4, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Did the show use some editing technology to speed up the speech without changing voice and intonation? Is the rerun faithful to the original airing? It's like all three of them had triple espressos (since Red Bull wasn't a thing yet, lol..) Red Bull was most definitely a thing in 2004. Heck, Monste...

Re: Wednesday, April 29, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm curious for those who learned the "sometimes w" rule, when did you learn it? I learned "sometimes y" but NOT "sometimes w" in 1971. James Buchanan Elementary School, probably 2nd grade, so 1959-1960. This 2-room country school alum learned about "w" as a vowel about ten minutes ago catching up ...

Re: Friday, May 1, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

I pretty much know my US states with my right brain, but that border category was more challenging than I expected for it's puzzle solving requirements. I'd have never pulled Rhode Island, even in FJ time, and even though I just passed through it a couple of years ago. (deleted penguin wisdom) I di...

Re: Friday, May 1, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Somebody had to win, and it was a sole solve so all the prior silliness is moot. Quemars came out firing and guessing. It's looks like a dog but it's not? Bull! He pulled off the bottom box DD to start FJ and clawed back until... I started with the feminine article, hit "La Scala", nope, that's an o...

Re: Thursday, April 30, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

The Thursday hex strikes again. I was charmed by Sarah, but FG nailed it when he described the extracurricular chatter as talking out of turn. It would be just fine if the show makes a little space to let the players share their quickie insights. But don't step on the toes of the winner. I see no re...

Re: Tuesday, April 28, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Epic film and a plausible finishing line plus my limited knowledge = Ten Comndments. Major props to Sharon for the Dauphin get for $2K when she needed it, and she scooped up two more $2K clues. She won the hard way on a sole solve, but we haven't seen strategic betting in a while. Maybe they all agr...

Re: Monday, April 27, 2020 Game Recap and Discussion (SPOILERS)

Pretty good FJ clue but I needed Alex to explain the punch line. I thought it was just an oblique reference to Grant's alcoholic (reputation at least) and went with Grant. I'm a little surprised that "code blue" has fallen off the radar and "break a leg" really needs to. I didn't have time to pull d...

Anyone else yell at their TV when Sarah mispronounced the title of the John Fowles novel. It's The French LEF-tenant's Woman Anyway, congrats to Sarah for an impressive performance. Didn't she also get the Adlai Stevenson clue (and pronounced with to sound like "eye")? I saw that as a perfect...
