Re: Tuesday, October 8, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I like what I saw from Jason Idarski in his first win. He knew when to wager big and when to stay small, and it worked for him nicely. Additionally, I felt something of a Chris Miller vibe from him, which I also consider good. :-) The $25,599 win is the largest in a Runaway since Jared Hall's $30,60...

Re: Thursday, October 3, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

There have been a number of close, exciting games so far this season, and today's was one of the better ones. Rohit Dewan would have been a worthy champion, but Damian Henri certainly is, as well. The unusually high trajectory of his winnings, if he can keep it going, will give him a major advantage...

Re: Wednesday, October 2, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I thought Fidelito Cortes had this game won until Damian Henri went on that strong run in the Double Jeopardy! round. I would have liked to see Fidelito Cortes win three or four games and be an outside possibility for the next Tournament of Champions, but he's definitely at least one of the better t...

Re: Tuesday, October 1, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

A second power performance by Fidelito Cortes. I've been quite impressed by his quality of play to this point. He puts on a strong, steady showing from start to finish, controlling most of the action and making well-considered Daily Double! wagers that are big, but not gigantic. I hope it's enough f...

Re: J! 30th anniversary tournament

There are a few surprising exclusions, but I'm hoping David Madden is an option for the fan vote. If he's not in the tournament then I'd have to say he's the most notable snub, all things considered. Has anyone heard why Bob Blake isn't competing?

Re: Monday, September 30, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

There was plenty of excitement in this game! Sarah Zucker made a good, daring wager in an attempt to take the lead right at the end, but considering that both she and Fidelito Cortes missed the Final Jeopardy! clue, I have to think there's a good chance he would have been crowned champion even had s...

Re: Friday, September 27, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I'm looking forward to finding out the scores for this game, since the telecast in my market was preempted by the president's speech. Neal Pollack was playing well when the broadcast was interrupted, but I didn't even see the entire Jeopardy! round.

Re: Thursday, September 26, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Neal Pollack has performed at a consistently high level in his first three wins. It's difficult to pinpoint any single game as his "signature win" to this point. Another win tomorrow will certainly put him in the discussion for the next Tournament of Champions. Good luck in your fourth game, Neal!

Re: Wednesday, September 25, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Between bouts of bad luck with the Daily Double! clues, Neal Pollack turned in a solid performance today, just as he did in his first win. If he continues to perform at the same level, I wouldn't be surprised to see him win three or four games, at least.

Re: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

All three players performed well today, and it was interesting to see a final score in exact increments of $1,000 ($24,000 to $25,000 to $26,000). Had Matt Volk won today we would already have, in theory, a full field for the next Tournament of Champions.

Re: Monday, September 23, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Matt Volk pulled out the win with some solid play throughout and an impressive get in the Final Jeopardy! round. I'd kind of like to see him win four or five games and make the Tournament of Champions field, to set up a potential rematch with Jared Hall. The field is filling up unusually quickly, th...

Re: Friday, September 20, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Congratulations to Matt Volk on a solid win today. He did some excellent work in the Double Jeopardy! round. With $181,001 in winnings, Jared Hall is the third-highest money winner among six-day champions, trailing only Roger Craig ($230,200) and Larissa Kelly ($222,597). He's almost $35,000 ahead o...

Re: Thursday, September 19, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Jared Hall maintains a stellar winnings total through his sixth win. In fact, he's well within range of eclipsing Joon Pahk's seven-day total with another win tomorrow, which would be an extraordinary accomplishment. A win of $18,000 or more would do it. He'll have to average nearly $30,000 a win fo...

Re: Wednesday, September 18, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Jared Hall has several signature wins now, which I think bodes well for his chances in the next regular Tournament of Champions. He's the first player with three wins of at least $30,000 since March 22, 23 and 24 of 2011, when Megan Barnes turned in three consecutive winning totals of $37,601, $32,4...

Re: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

A marvelous performance for Jared Hall! It could potentially endure as the largest one-day win in season 30, and it's already the biggest one-day total since Joon Pahk took home $50,800 on October 4, 2011, almost two years ago. I'll be cheering for Jared Hall to reach five wins tomorrow. I think he ...

Re: Wednesday, July 31, 2013 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

That is, indeed, the Kids Week record, breaking the mark of $49,000 held by Kunle Demuren since 2002. I have a feeling Skyler Hornback's $66,600 for a Kids Week game may never be bested.

Re: Monday, July 30, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

That was absolutely incredible. Virtually every clue of the game seemed to be a tense buzzer race between Matthew Cline and Anna Cambron, and it lasted up until the very last clue. This very well may have been the greatest Kids Week game I've ever seen by two excellent players battling it out every ...

Re: Wednesday, January 4, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Does anyone know why the jeopardy archive isnt being updated on time anymore? That happens every once in a while. Archiving the games is a time-consuming activity, so there are occasional lulls in the stream of updates, especially around the holiday season. By the way, Congratulations to Dave Leach...

Re: Thursday, December 29, 2011 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

After watching all of the games in his run, I think it's fair to say that Jason Keller is at least the greatest Jeopardy! champion since Joon Pahk. I would still take Joon Pahk as a greater player for now, but Jason Keller has been marvelous. i hear you, but this is almost damning with faint praise...
