. . . that would have been a perfect opportunity for a gag answer, but they told us specifically not to do that, and contrary to what people thought of my "attention-seeking" antics, when they gave us specific instructions, I followed those to the letter . . . I may be be wrong, but I seem to remem...

Congrats on the run, the fun, the attention, the money, and all that, Jennifer. 0 to 79 posts in 5 days flat. That's gotta be some kind of record right there. Adult record anyways. And definitely a record of quality posts. I believe she's about 20 years younger than I am, sure looks young anyway.

But I do swear I'll stick around. After all, it's been a habit for years. I worried when I started spamming the board that you guys would think I was one of those fly-by-night (RUSH REFERENCE) . Fly By Night Goodbye my dear isn't what Alex said to you during the closing credits of yesterday's show.

Maybe Neil would be willing to appear on the next Celeb week of J! Interesting that none of the trio ever did rock and roll J!, which did have a few celeb shows of its own. THough during the run of the show is when RUsh were on hiatus because of Neil's personal issues(daughter died one year, his fir...

Re: Thursday, July 16, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Surprised no one mentioned this: Scores going into FJ! were Ben $9000 CHristianna $9600 Jennifer $18912(Jennifer wagered $2112 on a DJ! DD in honor of an early RUsh album 2112). Christianna went all in and Jennifer wagered $288. CHristianna being right on FJ! would have meant a 19200-19200 tie betwe...

Re: Thursday, July 16, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Jennifer was certainly entertaining! I enjoyed watching her, and congratulations to her on her win. I had 35 correct responses including two triple stumpers: "Old New Hampshire," and Norway. I guessed Jules Verne for FJ; but it turns out that he died in 1905, not in 1902 as the clue stated. Dreyfus...

Re: Tuesday, July 14, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

I don't really know the difference between Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey, but if one of them is negged, I'm guessing the other one. For early-20th C. western writers, there's also Owen Wister, who wrote The Virginian, though his heyday preceded the 1920s. L'Amour's career didn't start till the 1950s....

Re: Took the WWTBAM test this morning

Hey, what's the point of remembering stuff that no one asked for pertaining to facts that won't come in handy in any conceivable way if you can't shoehorn it in at the slightest provocation? I mean, if you can't do that, then you might as well learn more useful trivia or, *gasp* contribute usefully...

I love all the people offering to help out despite not being good at the categories that Leszek identified at weaknesses. Clearly the only move here is to fly in Rex Kramer and make him the Plus One, so that he can assist in adding someone to his exclusive club. Leszek mentioned a pop music weaknes...

Re: Wednesday, July 8, 2015 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Today's show was an instance where it's very possible to guess the correct FJ response before the break, simply from knowing the FJ category. Pretty much a "what else could it be"? I mean, besides writing the constitution, what else is T-Jeffs known for? Jefferson famously wrote the Dec. of Ind. an...

Re: Encounters with J! Folk

I met Michael Schutterley, Mark Dixon, and J! former associate producer Harry Eisenberg on the 8/24/1999 taping of WWTBAM which aired on 8/25/1999. Seemed odd that WWTBAM would allow a former J! producer as a contestant, and it was only six years earlier he wrote his book about his J! experiences.

The Teen tournament was known to be closing out last season by the time the Battle of the Decades finals aired IIRC.

Re: Errors and Corrections in The Cultural Literacy Trivia Guide-4th Edition

[ Was there already a Dictionary of Cultural Literacy out in 1987? I was actually working for E. D. Hirsch then, and I thought his people were still working on the dictionaries. I know the book Cultural Literacy was out, with its rather controversial list, but I don't remember the dictionaries. But...
