Re: Tuesday, November 7, 2017 Game Recap and Discussion [SPOILERS]

Knew Lesotho cold, though I've always pronounced it "luh-SUE-toe".

Incidentally, Lesotho's national football team is known as the "Crocodiles".

They are also an English speaking nation, though it's co-official with Sotho.

Happy to see a ZOOM reference on today's show.

Now if only someone would bet $02134 for a DD, we'd be set!!!!

For some reason my mind jumped to Casey Kasem so I said Disc Jockey. Not as good of a fit for Americana as Casey Jones though I suppose, and they already had the DJ scratching clue so not a great guess.
Casey Kasem was born in Detroit, and his real name was Kernal Amin Kasem.

I had no guess on FJ other than Bruno Mars (how many if any has he won, BTW?)

Something tells me the unplayed clues in SHE'S A GOOD SPORT (OK, I know that's NOT the name of the category, but anyway) were Danica Patrick and a gymnast.

Rather than a TOM, Tracy movie acted as a distraction. Ended with nothing... Was thinking of boys town, but knew it was too early.

According to iMDB, TOM&TS was remade for TV in 1990 with Anthony Quinn as Santiago.

Yikes...once again, Justin benefits from making this an interesting game and benefits from a triple stumper. Kellie's strategy made it somehow effective, considering that she had no chance to win. Glaring that Seth didn't get it right and dropped him to a 3rd place finish. Justin for sure has kicke...

According to The Other Wiki, Southwest was founded in 1967, but did not start flying until 1971.

Blah blah 1920s author blah blah has ties to Princeton. Unless there's another author that fits that criteria, they're looking for Fitzgerald every time. Surprisingly, that get plus my get yesterday gives me two in a row in regular play for the first time since the first week of May. I'll leave to ...

Re: Monday, June 5, 2017 Game Recap & Discussion [SPOILERS]

Had trouble with the wording of this clue: CHERRY COUNTY, WHICH BORDERS SOUTH DAKOTA ON THE NORTH, IS THIS STATE'S LARGEST COUNTY, EXCEEDING CONNECTICUT IN AREA. I read the clue as referring to South Dakota's northern border, not Cherry County's northern border. Are there any grammatical guidelines...

I would have ruled Tanya wrong as she put a non-existent "g" in the title (a la Olivia Newton-John, who in 1976 actually had a hit with said similar title) instead of an apostrophe a la Journey.

She still would have won, though.

I can even TELL you the first woman at Indy:

Janet Guthrie, driving car #27, the "Bryant Heating and Cooling Special".

She started in the middle of row 9, but retired after completing 26 laps (Magneto failure).

Ear test of the day: Matt’s “alley-oop” response sounded more like “olly-oop” to me.
I could have sworn that it was more of a Francophile sounding "allez oup"
Why not? "alley" and "Ally" (as in Ally Sheedy) are the same.

NHO "Thorn Birds" either. How is that supposed to lead to Australia?

The author of The Thorn Birds was an Australian named Colleen McCoullough.

I only know McCarthy via SNL, so I wouldn't have gotten this FJ if you gave me 30 minutes. Bible is in my wheelhouse but that bottom clue was YEKIOYD (Paul's letter to Romans). Still went 4/5 though. Ruth is mentioned in Matthew's genealogy ofJesus (tracing his lineage back to David) so that was in...
