Missed "tax" and "Nevada" (I thought Utah, for some odd reason).

Is this the Jeopardy debut for the KKK? Not the best time given current events (if there is a good time) to mention them.
Not even close. At least a couple dozen as KKK and Ku Klux Klan.

Re: New old games in the J! Archive

I added 5/10/95: http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=6687 Todd deserved to lose for missing DD3 although it turned out not to matter. Why? That's a strong-ish category for me and I didn't get it right. Guessed Christina Rossetti. Not familiar with The Barretts of Wimpole Street ?

(And don't forget either that he confuse him with DH Lawrence, who lived in New Mexico.)
I don't quite make that mistake, but do sometimes call him T.H., instead of the correct T.E.. I just stick with "... of Arabia" when possible, like tonight. :)

The US can once again launch people into space! There was a short but heavy rainstorm that crossed over the Cape just before the launch. It was moving roughly south, so by the time it was clear up there and launch was a Go, it was cloudy and pouring over me. Would have been nice to see it live, but...

The Wharton School of Business is at Penn, which might be a small clue.
True, although the street is about 2 or 3 miles from the school, I assume they're named after the same person/family.

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

So...somehow I read the location of my opponent (New Jersey) into the clue... But even without that, 'Italian-American', '30s', 'hot dog stand' and 'Passyunk' have a northeast vibe...which might be why I so easily assumed New Jersey (again, my opponent's location...) as part of the clue even though...

Plus, Pat's is one of the most famous cheesesteak restaurants in Philadelphia. (The Pat's vs Geno's rivalry is a big thing.)
At the risk of going TPH on you, that's pretty meaningless if you've been to Philly all of once and never really left the hotel.

But ... oh, ok, thanks. :)

Re: Learned League 85 - Official Thread

How did 80+% get cheesesteak? Northeast regional invented sandwich in close proximity to New Jersey. Cheesesteak was either going to be right or the MCWA. The question is: "An Italian-American named Pat Olivieri, who operated a hot dog stand in the 1930s in his hometown at the intersection of Whart...

Big concentration of the league population is in the northeast?
Not that high. And it's not like the streets named were the ones you think of when you think of Philly.

We’ve been over this many times, you admittedly know nothing about sports, and there’s nothing wrong with that. That being said, because of this you have no idea when a sports clue is easy, difficult, negbait, whatever. So stop worrying and protesting the matter. Let those who know sports lay it ou...

Teaching the Sport was a quick 0/5 for me. Any reason I should know that pitch at $200 was a fastball?
The clue's narration included the term "two-seam variety"; types of fastballs include two-seam and four-seam, and split-finger.
Also cut (usually just called a cutter).
