Re: Monday, May 28, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

Instagot FJ, but did not do nearly as well on the boards. I got a C in algebra back in tenth grade you Jeopardy Jerks! Les Paul played a weekly show here in NYC until right before he died, I think that helped me remember. Yes, he played every night at Iridium off Times Square. I'm going there to se...

Re: Reretaken Down

Well, I listed my beautiful home for sale this morning! It's my initial move in a slow transition to retirement. I'll be going from Long Island to coastal South Carolina where I have plenty of family. It's the best day I've had in a long time! Now if only the house goes quickly...

Re: Thursday, May 24, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

As a former subscriber to both the Times & the WSJ, I'd say their NYC area coverage is about the same. I stopped the Times in 2008 & switched to the WSJ for 3 years.

Re: Friday, May 25, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I ran the spelling and art categories. I just saw Madonna of the Long Neck when in Italy. I wouldn't have known it otherwise. Perfect 5/5 in afJ this week!!!

Re: National Geography Bee

Well, the ending was exciting! I did well on the final five questions. If only I'd gone to Inverness when I was in Scotland, I'd have had a perfect score. I got the second & third tiebreakers but I was off on the winning answer, thinking Trier. Anyway, nice kids and a nice contest.

I'll have to look that one up! I remember they did a Signs remake.

Re: Thursday, May 24, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I learned about Tesla because there was a crappy group with that name in the 80's. As for the Merry Widow, an excellent Hitchcock film gave me that knowledge. I missed the other DD in DJ. Ch. 7 in NYC cut in so we missed about a dozen questions & the interviews. Anything interesting?

Re: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I live on Long Island (although I'm in the process of escaping NY as I type!) and so I knew the answer but I've never watched either show. I thought aroyal Pains was set in Miami but I could be thinking of the star's prior show.

Re: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 Game Recap & Discussion (SPOILERS)

I'm very lucky that I got Taz quickly because I missed the "mammal" part of the clue. I recall seeing a news story about that factoid. I'm starting to root for Joel, which might be bad news for him as they usually lose after that. Nice game overall with 2 good challengers.

TS on Apocalypse Now, Voyager?!? FJ was very easy. I agree that the interviews were kind of long and boring.

Re: WWTBAM... WTF? question

I actually guessed it correctly because of his German name & his later place in history. Now before you condemn me for assuming all Germans are nudists, when I was a kid and wandered onto a nude beach, they all seemed to be old Germans. Some things just stick in your mind.

Re: Alex explains Thomas Friedman's meltdown (sorta)

I'm amused that someone is claiming Thomas Friedman is smart. As referenced above, he dotes on the dictatorial Chinese gov't. He has also been wrong on some of the big policy questions of the day. And Alex can make excuses all day long but they did have a practice round. I feel bad that he humiliate...

Got Doubt easily. Not a very good movie but the play was fine. Can't see this new guy lasting too long.

ETA: I saw The History Boys also in play & movie and again, the play was much better.

Re: My Audition Experience (Chicago)

I wonder if there were fewer people at the try-out because of the January snafu or was that just an East Coast thing? I have taken the written test & it's always much easier.

Re: My Audition Experience (Chicago)

I've been at 7 auditions. Maybe 8. Frankly, I've lost count. I have no idea how they choose contestants. At one of my try-outs, the only 2 out of 25 or so who made it on the show were woman. One was good and won but the other was an odd duck & I can't imagine how she made it. She didn't play FJ. I t...

Heh heh. And just yesterday, in full war cry mode: "I dreamed I could be President when I was a kid and my mother told me I could be VICE President!" silly msn.
